16 and Pregnant’s Whitney Purvis Misses Son’s Funeral After His Death at Age 16: Report

16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis reportedly missed her son Weston Jr.’s funeral on Saturday, June 14.

Purvis, 33, was turned away after allegedly arriving late for the ceremony at a Georgia funeral home, according to a TMZ report published on Tuesday, June 17. The outlet cited a source said to be close to the former MTV star, who claimed Purvis was told the service would take place at 4 p.m. local time, but arrived to discover the funeral had already started at 2 p.m. and that she wasn’t on the guest list.

However, Weston Jr.’s father, Weston Gosa Sr., told TMZ that he personally extended an invite to Purvis and informed her that a viewing would take place between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., followed by the service at 4 p.m.

According to Gosa, Purvis didn’t arrive at the venue until after 4:15 p.m., by which time the funeral was already underway. He said that Purvis’ family members, including her mom, attended the service.

Purvis confirmed her son’s death at the age of 16 via Facebook on Monday, June 2.

“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away,” she wrote alongside a series of photos of the twosome. “He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just dont understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don’t know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child? I’m in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don’t want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can’t describe the pain I am feeling.”

She also spoke directly to her son, writing, “I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can’t go on without you. Rest in Peace, my angel. You are gone too soon. April 2, 2009 – June 2, 2025.”

In a second post, Whitney added, “Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I’ll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You’ll always be my baby.”

Weston Jr. was born in April 2009 during the first season of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. Since the show aired, Purvis lost custody of sons Weston Jr. and River.

Gosa’s wife and Weston Jr.’s stepmom, Amy Gosa, shared via Facebook earlier this month that the family “tried to wake” Weston up at 7 a.m. on the morning of June 2, but he was “not breathing.”

“We attempted CPR and called an ambulance. The paramedics attempted it as well and took him to the hospital in Gordon County where he was pronounced dead,” Amy wrote. “He had several health issues as well as diabetes. We are completely heartbroken and in shock. It was so unexpected.”
