3 Popular Hulu Movies and TV Shows to Binge-Watch (October 18-19)

If there’s a common theme on Hulu‘s popular movies and TV shows this week, it’s murder and mayhem.
Although we’re not sure how that relates to the movie section, where the Twilight films have taken five out of 15 slots.
Regardless, Watch With Us has put together our picks for the three most popular Hulu movies and TV shows to binge-watch this weekend.
Our picks include a breakout streaming hit, a new iteration of a TV franchise and a reboot of one of the most famous slasher movies.
‘Murdaugh: Death in The Family’ (2025)
Watch With Us had Murdaugh: Death in the Family as one of our most-anticipated Hulu shows of the fall. So we’re not shocked that it’s become a hit out of the gate. This true crime story has everything you could ask for, including larger-than-life characters, secrets, lies and murder. Or in this case, multiple murders.
Most of the events seen in this miniseries were reported by podcaster Mandy Matney (Brittany Snow) as they came to light. But the real stars of this show are Jason Clarke and Patricia Arquette as Alex and Maggie Murdaugh. Outwardly, the Murdaughs had a strong marriage, but the cracks in their union are readily apparent when their son, Paul (Johnny Berchtold), is involved in a deadly accident. That brings too much scrutiny on the family, and it may require an extreme solution.
Murdaugh: Death in the Family is streaming on Hulu.
‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Season 1 (2025)
In TV terms, 9-1-1 is the new CSI or NCIS-style franchise that continues to expand with new shows just by changing the location of the spinoff series. 9-1-1 has increasingly grown beyond the confines of reality, although it doesn’t appear that 9-1-1 Nashville will be going as over-the-top as the original series.
This series is also a family affair, as Chris O’Donnell leads the cast as Captain Don Hart, with Jessica Capshaw as his wife, Blythe Hart, Michael Provost as their son, Ryan Hart, and Hunter McVey as Ryan’s illegitimate son, Blue Bennings, whose mother, Dixie, is played by country music star LeAnn Rimes. Don, Blyth and his two sons are all in the service of saving lives when they aren’t drowning in family drama.
9-1-1: Nashville is streaming on Hulu.
‘Halloween’ (2018)
There are hard reboots and soft reboots, but the 2018 Halloween film might be classified as a medium reboot. This film ignores all of the previous sequels and the two older reboots, one of which also brought back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. She was the original scream queen in the first Halloween movie almost five decades ago, and she’s never stopped thinking about the man who murdered her family. So much so that she transformed her own home into a fortress designed to either keep Michael inside… or to keep him from getting back outside.
The story picks up 40 years after Michael’s rampage in the first film, and Laurie remains traumatized by it. Preparing for Michael’s inevitable return has become Laurie’s calling, and it has alienated her from her daughter, Karen Nelson (Judy Greer), and Karen’s daughter, Allyson Nelson (Andi Matichak). Karen and Allyson should have listened, because the time has finally come for Michael to break free of his captivity. Now, he’s coming home to kill again and to get his revenge on the Strode women. Allyson may be following a dark family tradition by trying to stay ahead of Michael, and she might be the new final girl of this generation.
Halloween is streaming on Hulu.
