3 Underrated Netflix Shows to Watch This Weekend (July 11-13)

It’s ironic that the only major Netflix original show of the week is an NFL-approved look behind the scenes of three different players.

That means even the originals aren’t original this week. Thankfully, Netflix’s acquired series are picking up the slack.

Watch With Us has selected the three underrated Netflix shows you need to stream this weekend.

Our first pick is a Canadian romance drama, followed by an NFL documentary series and a crime thriller that’s worth celebrating.

‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ (2023 – Present)

Sullivan’s Crossing is currently back for a third season on The CW and is simultaneously blowing up on Netflix with the first two seasons. This Canadian drama features Morgan Kohan as Maggie Sullivan, a neurosurgeon whose life in Boston goes up in flames thanks to her relationship and legal problems. That’s why she retreats to her hometown in Nova Scotia.

Being back home forces Maggie to make her peace with her dad, Harry ‘Sully’ Sullivan (Scott Patterson). She also finds herself romantically drawn to California ‘Cal’ Jones (Chad Michael Murray). However, Maggie’s boyfriend, Andrew Mathews (Allan Hawco), isn’t giving up on their romance without a fight. That leaves Maggie with a lot of big decisions to make about her life and who she wants to share it with.

Sullivan’s Crossing is streaming on Netflix.

‘Quarterback’ (2023 – Present)

Patrick Mahomes understandably took most of the spotlight in the first season of Quarterback. Hey, if you win a few Super Bowls before hitting 30, it’s to be expected. However, the lone returning quarterback this season is Kirk Cousins, formerly of the Minnesota Vikings.

Cousins is out to redefine his legacy in the NFL after signing with the Atlanta Falcons during the offseason. But even prominent players don’t always get what they want. This season, Cousins shares the spotlight with the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow and the Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff. Not to spoil anything for any non-football fans out there, but given the way the 2024 season went, keep your eyes on Goff.

Quarterback is streaming on Netflix.

‘Sneaky Pete’ (2015 – 2019)

Hey look! It’s an Amazon Prime Video show pretending to be a Netflix show. That’s appropriate because Sneaky Pete is all about a guy who is pretending to be another man. Pete Murphy (Ethan Embry) doesn’t appear on this show very often, but he’s a talkative dude. So much so that his former cellmate, Marius Josipović (Giovanni Ribisi), steals Pete’s identity when he gets out of prison and introduces himself to Pete’s family as the cousin and grandson they haven’t seen in years.

Ten years ago, Sneaky Pete was one of the first Amazon Prime Video original series. Now, Sneaky Pete is streaming on Netflix, and new viewers are discovering the joys of watching Giovanni Ribisi in the title role. Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston cocreated this series about a con artist, Marius Josipović (Ribisi), who steals the identity […]

Just as Marius worms his way into the lives of the Bowman family, his brother, Eddie Josipović (Michael Drayer), is captured by Vince Lonigan (Bryan Cranston), a vicious gangster. Vince is owed a lot of money by Marius, and he’ll maim or even kill Eddie if Marius can’t come up with the payment. That means Marius may have to rob the Bowman family even after they accept him as their long-lost relative.
