Netflix excels at giving viewers a lot of new shows to watch in any given month.

However, only a handful of Netflix originals rise to the top, and everything else seems to sink to the bottom of the search results.

To help you make viewing plans for April, Watch with Us has put together a list of four underrated shows you need to watch this month.

Three series are already streaming on Netflix, while the other show will be arriving soon.

‘The Gardener’ (2025)

The Gardener has the potential to be one of April’s breakout originals on Netflix. This Spanish miniseries casts Álvaro Rico as Elmer, a young man who has been molded by his mother, La China Jurado (Cecilia Suárez), into a ruthless killer for hire. Their real profession is hidden by the family garden store under her control.

Elmer didn’t believe he could ever love anyone until he met Violeta (Catalina Sopelana), a woman he was supposed to kill. Their budding relationship not only threatens to upend the family business, it also forces Elmer to protect Violeta from his own murderous mother.

The Gardener is now streaming on Netflix.

‘The Residence’ (2025)

The Residence may remind some mystery fans of Knives Out, and it definitely has some silly moments to go along with the drama. In this 2025 Netflix series, there has been a murder at the White House and the Chief Usher A. B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito) is dead.

Uzo Aduba and husband Robert Sweeting secretly wed in September 2020, one year before they publicly announced their union. “We were just taking the year to ourselves to enjoy the time and have some quiet time together, and then we were having our anniversary come up,” Aduba explained on Live With Kelly and Ryan in […]

Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba), an eccentric detective working for the police, is called in to investigate Wynter’s death while a lengthy list of rich and powerful suspects attempt to escape suspicion. Solving the murder is only the first half of the equation for Cupp, as she needs to figure out why Wynter was killed before she can make sense of the mystery.

The Residence is streaming on Netflix.

‘American Primeval’ (2025)

There are some parallels between American Primeval and the Yellowstone prequel series 1883, but the former goes even further with its bleak depiction of the Old West. Betty Gilpin stars as Sara Holloway, a woman who desperately needs to go west with her young son, Devon (Preston Mota), and an indigenous girl, Two Moons (Shawnee Pourier), who is on the run from her tribe.

Sara can relate to Two Moons because she’s also running from her past, which is rapidly catching up to her. The trio’s only hope of finding a new life together lies with Isaac Reed (Taylor Kitsch), a man haunted by the loss of his wife. Isaac wasn’t able to save the woman he loved, but he may be able to protect this family on their perilous journey.

American Primeval is streaming on Netflix.

While Nanjiani said, “I don’t believe in ghosts, […]

‘Project UFO’ (2025)

UFO sightings may be more common worldwide than people in America might expect. Netflix’s Project UFO is a miniseries inspired by a reported alien sighting in Poland in 1978. However, this sci-fi story doesn’t pretend to be based on a true story.

The show is set in Poland during the 1980s and draws upon Cold War hysteria and UFO panic. As word of potential contact with aliens hits the nation, at least one politician figures out how to capitalize on the incident. For everyone else, the truth about life on other planets may soon be staring them in the face.

Project UFO will stream on Netflix on April 16.
