Farmer Wants a Wife: Dater Claire Feels John’s Connection with His Ladies Is ‘Very Even’ — So She Makes a Bold Move (Exclusive)

Claire Dirette isn’t afraid to have honest conversations.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming episode of Farmer Wants a Wife, dater Claire sits down with Farmer John to discuss the status of their relationship. After he brought a new dater, Juliana, into the house, John, 25, questions how his decision will impact his other connections.

“How do you feel about Juliana?” he asks Claire.

“I feel like I just had to laugh when you walked in with another girl,” she explains.

When John wonders if Claire expected it, she quickly reveals, “Oh, yeah.” 

“You’ve been very even, I feel like, with us,” she continues. “So I feel like it was obvious you were gonna do that too. Like, ‘I have to give her a shot, my mom really likes her.’”

As the two banter back and forth, John admits, “Without this situation that we’re in, I don’t think we ever would have gotten to a point where we like each other.”

“Really?” Claire responds, shocked.

“Yeah, because like, you probably hate me,” he jokes, but she shuts it down: “That’s not true!”

“I like people who are different from me,” she adds. “It’s boring if you’re just an echo chamber of the same thoughts.”

Acknowledging that they “get along surprisingly well,” John and Claire confess their feelings for one another.

“I do like you,” John says. 

“I feel like we’re so different in some ways,” Claire notes, laughing. “Like, you like hunting, I grew up vegetarian.” 

“But that’s what I also look for — somebody who thinks a different way,” John shares. “So, do you still want to stick around here?”

“Yeah, do you still want me here?” Claire teases, to which John declares, “Yeah!”

“Okay, so are you gonna take me on a date?” she quips as the clip comes to an end.

On the April 24 episode of the dating show, the Farmers’ moms each chose a new woman for their sons to potentially bring into the running alongside their existing daters. When John met Juliana, a private chef with dreams of becoming a mother one day, he decided he wanted more time with her to see where things go. 

“I think my mom did a pretty damn good job, but this is a pretty unusual process,” he told the cameras. “If I were, like, dating somebody right now, I wouldn’t have even considered meeting a girl like this. So, I’m keeping my heart and mind completely open and considering all the options.”
