Diana Ross Wears Met Gala Dress Embroidered with Her Children and Grandchildren’s Names in Rare Family Photos

Diana Ross posed in rare photos with her entire family celebrating her recent tribute to her five kids and eight grandchildren.
On Monday, May 5, the “Upside Down” singer, 81, arrived at the 2025 Met Gala in a shawl with a massive train. But the 18-foot feathered shawl — that enveloped the stairs and required six helpers — included the 13 names of her loved ones embroidered on the underside. Diana created the gown together with her son Evan Ross and designer Ugo Mozie.
In celebration of the singer’s heartfelt look, she posed with all of her children and grandchildren in the grand gown, with the elegant train at her feet. Evan, 36, Chudney Ross, 49, Ross Naess, 37, were to her left, and Rhonda Ross Kendrick, 53, and Trace Elliss Ross, 52, were to her right.
The “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” singer welcomed her eldest daughter, Rhonda with Motown legend Berry Gordy in 1971. The same year, Diana married her first husband, music executive Robert Ellis Silberstein, and they went on to welcome two daughters: Tracee and Chudney. After their 1977 split, Ross married Norwegian businessman and mountaineer Arne Naess Jr. in 1986, and later welcomed two sons, Ross and Evan.
The second image included Diana with her eight grandchildren. Bronx, Ziggy, Jagger, Everlee and Leif were to her left, and Indigo, Callaway and Raif were to her right.
The former Supremes singer became a grandma in 2009 when Rhonda welcomed her son Raif-Henok with husband Rodney Kendrick. Chudney and her then-boyfriend Joshua Faulkner announced the birth of their baby girl, Callaway Lane, in 2012.
After Evan married Ashlee Simpson in 2014, Diana became step-grandmother to Bronx Mowgli Wentz, whom Simpson shares with Pete Wentz. The newlyweds then welcomed daughter Jagger Snow in 2015. The next year, Ross and his wife Kimberly Ryan welcomed son, Leif Naess, and the year after him, they welcomed son Indigo.
Chudney and Faulkner had a second daughter, Everlee Ernestine, in 2019. In 2020, Evan and Simpson welcomed son Ziggy Blu.

At the Monday event, Diana said she almost didn’t attend until Evan persuaded her.
“Well, there was not a plan. Everything was really, really at last moment. My son persuaded me, ’cause I’m actually on tour,” the iconic singer told Vogue red carpet livestream host La La Anthony.
Not only did the “Endless Love” singer turn heads at the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” themed event — she was also a source of inspiration for another look. Zendaya’s all white, three-piece custom Louis Vuitton zoot suit was inspired by Diana’s outfit in the 1975 movie, Mahogany, according to Vogue.
