Jodie Sweetin Shares Her Most Cherished ‘Fuller House’ Memory With Dave Coulier and Late Bob Saget (Exclusive)

With eight years on Full House and four years on its sequel series Fuller House, Jodie Sweetin has a lot of fond memories of the hit sitcoms — but there’s one that stands out.
“My most cherished Fuller House memory is when we were out to dinner in Tokyo,” Sweetin, 43, reveals exclusively in her 25 Things You Don’t Know About Me feature in the latest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now. “Bob [Saget] and Dave [Coulier] started teasing Molly McGuigan Jeff [Franklin] about something silly. We all had tears running down our faces and our stomachs hurt from laughing. To this day, it makes me smile.”
Sweetin got her start playing Stephanie Tanner on the ABC sitcom at 5 years old. After its conclusion in 1995, Sweetin joined Netflix’s Fuller House alongside most of the original cast members, including Coulier and the late Saget (who died in 2022), from 2016 to 2020.
For more sweet memories from Sweetin — whose Lifetime movie Dateless to Dangerous: My Son’s Secret Life premieres Saturday, June 21, at 8 p.m. ET — keep scrolling:
1. We shot our pilot episode of Full House on the same soundstage at MGM where the poppy field scene of Wizard of Oz was filmed. It’s giant, and we looked very tiny in it!
2. People having landline phones is my favorite ’90s trend.
3. I was incredibly impressed with the talent of Nikki Roumel and Alexander Elliot, who play my kids in Dateless to Dangerous.
4. People cracking their knuckles is one of my phobias.
5. I try to always stress to my daughters that the internet and social media are not real life. It’s a tailored image — and AI these days — that people create as a persona.
6. My secret talent is I can talk like a ventriloquist without moving my lips or mouth.
7. One of the things I miss most about the pre-internet era is the pace of things. People didn’t expect to be able to get in touch with you at all times. I felt way more present.
8. If I could only watch one movie for the rest of my life, it would be The Big Lebowski. I quote it often.
9. My celebrity crush growing up was Josh Brolin.
10. I’d love to do an irreverent comedy like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Arrested Development.
11. Dorothy is definitely the Golden Girl I relate to the most! The smart-ass, sarcastic, teasing sense of humor she had is so me.
12. In my 40s, I’ve learned to stop caring what anyone thinks about the choices you need to make for your own well-being.
13. My favorite place to vacation is anywhere warm, tropical and sandy.
14. Uncle Jesse — also known as John Stamos — is the most famous person in my phonebook.
15. Activism is important to me because I think we’re put here to take care of one another. If I’m afforded a large platform, I try to do the most good I can with it.
16. If I wasn’t an actress, I’d be a therapist.
17. My husband and I sit on the couch and watch some weird true crime doc that I’ve picked out to decompress or unwind after a hectic day.
18. Meeting Caroll Spinney, who played Big Bird on Sesame Street, was the most starstruck moment I’ve ever had. I am a huge Sesame Street and Muppets fan. It was my childhood!
19. I can’t leave the house without my phone, Stanley mug and sunglasses.
20. The proudest moment of my career was directing an episode of Fuller House.
21. I hate phone calls, so I’d probably text my best friend, Celia [Behar], to get out of a funk. She’d send me a really inappropriate meme and make me laugh at myself.
22. My most cherished Fuller House memory is when we were out to dinner in Tokyo. Bob [Saget] and Dave [Coulier] started teasing Molly McGuigan Jeff [Franklin] about something silly. We all had tears running down our faces and our stomachs hurt from laughing. To this day, it makes me smile.
23. History — and passing notes in class — was my favorite subject in school.
24. A childhood memory that makes me smile is my 13th birthday party at Disneyland.
25. Having just been to Scotland, I must say Edinburgh is my favorite city to visit! The history was incredible, and lots of cool ghost stories and graveyards as well.
