Why ‘promiscuous’ Billy Idol wasn’t shocked about having a secret child

Billy Idol wasn’t all that shocked when he found out he had a secret child.

Earlier this month, Idol touched on unknowingly fathering a child during his 1985 tour, “Rebel Yell,” in the documentary “Billy Idol Should Be Dead,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

When asked by iNews Wednesday if the discovery came as a surprise due to his “promiscuous lifestyle,” he said, “Maybe a little bit, but the more I thought about it, I guessed there must be something like that.

“Because we were going around in the ’80s, and ’70s, just having knockdown, drag-out sex with a million people you didn’t know.”

The lead singer of Generation X then claimed, “A lot of people in the rock world got children beyond their usual relationships.”

However, he doesn’t think there are more secret children out there for him because “we would know about them now if there were.”

As to how he found out, Idol explained that his daughter, Bonnie Blue Broad, had taken a 23AndMe DNA test, which told her she had a half-sibling in New York.

“We’re quite good friends, and I love him. He’s a nice guy,” the 69-year-old rocker said of his newly discovered son, Brant Broad.

While the mother of Brant is unknown, he welcomed Bonnie with ex Linda Mathis. He is also a dad to Willem Broad, who he shares with former Hot Gossip member Perri Lister.

Idol, whose real name is William Michael Albert Broad, also explained that, unlike his earlier years, he’s far more equipped to be a dad now.

“I’m in a better place in my life. In lots of ways, I’ve done everything I wanted, at least to my own satisfaction. And now I’m not a drug addict, I can really be there for them,” he said, referring to his lifelong struggles with alcoholism and drugs, including cocaine and heroin.

Despite not using hard drugs after an accidental drug overdose in 1994, he got clean in 2003 — though he admitted to smoking cannabis regularly and drinking occasionally.
