Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. Work Up a Sweat in Cute Fitness Outing

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. aren’t just husband and wife — they’re workout buddies, too.
Gellar, 48, took to her Instagram Story on Friday, July 11, to share a video of her and Prinze Jr., 49, exercising together at Alo gym. To the tune of Boston’s “More Than a Feeling,” the pair did a series of pull ups, hopped on the stationary bike for some cardio and lifted free weights while sitting side by side.
Gellar then gave herself a breather as she sat on a sled and was pulled around the gym by Prinze Jr. before giving it a go — without any added weight — herself.
In a subsequent Instagram Story, the married duo appeared to be sweaty post-workout as their trainer snapped a pic. “Fam,” the caption read.
Gellar and Prinze Jr., who met on the set of their 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer, began dating in 2000. They exchanged vows two years later, welcoming daughter Charlotte and son Rocky in 2009 and 2012, respectively.
Despite being one of Hollywood’s most long standing couples, the duo have managed to keep their relationship mostly out of the spotlight over the years, but have been vocal about their support for each other.
When Prinze Jr. flew across the world to reprise his role as Ray Bronson in this year’s highly-anticipated IKWYDLS revival, Gellar brought their kids along for an extended visit to Australia. (Gellar’s character was killed in the first film.)
“I would’ve missed my family a lot, so they came out to visit and they stayed for a little while and visited the set,” Prinze Jr. exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month, noting that the kids had fun getting to look at “fake dead bodies” — something necessary for a successful slasher flick — while enjoying their time down under.
While Gellar didn’t have to prepare to fight a deranged fisherman like her husband, she is gearing up for her return to the small screen as Buffy Summers. She initially starred on the eponymous WB-turned-UPN series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, from 1996 to 2003, and confirmed in February that revival was officially in the works. She’ll also appear in the horror sequel Ready or Not 2 next year.
Both of Gellar’s upcoming roles require her to be in the best shape possible — but she’s also focusing on fitness for her own benefit.
“As I’ve got older, I’ve learned that, as a woman, you need to lift for your general health, especially for your bone density,” she told Women’s Health in a Thursday, July 10, interview. “Plus, a lot of the roles I take involve putting yourself in a position where you’re more likely to get injured, so I train to protect myself from that. I’m not looking to change my entire body shape, I’m looking to be healthier.”
