Taylor Swift Named ‘Permanent Member’ of Chiefs Kingdom, Gracie Hunt Gushes Over Travis Kelce Engagement

The Kansas City Chiefs are embracing Taylor Swift as one of their own after her engagement to Travis Kelce.

“Today is a fairytale ❤️💍,” the official Chiefs Instagram account wrote on Tuesday, August 26. “Congrats to Travis and Taylor — we’re excited to have you as a permanent member of the Chiefs Kingdom family!”

The NFL team also shared a sweet photo of Kelce, now 35, hugging Swift, also 35, after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2024. Another image displayed a screenshot of the couple’s joint Instagram post from Tuesday, where they announced their engagement.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Kelce and Swift wrote via Instagram, alongside a series of photos from his proposal.

Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, subsequently told People in a statement that she “can’t stop smiling.”

“Travis and Taylor’s engagement feels like a modern fairytale unfolding in real life,” Hunts said on Tuesday. “Their love story has captured so many hearts, and now it’s stepping into an even more magical chapter.”

The pair’s engagement news comes days after Swift appeared on Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast and gave fans a glimpse of their romance. At one point, Swift recalled Travis publicly expressing his disappointment in 2023 when he tried to give her his number at an Eras Tour stop in 2023 — but failed to meet her.

“It was such a wild romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I want to date you!’ At first when I looked at it, I was like, ‘This dude didn’t get a meet-and-greet and he’s making it everyone’s problem,’” Swift recalled. “He didn’t even reach out to our management! When this podcast came out I was like, ‘Did he ever reach out to be in the tents or did we know he was in the building?’ He came with Patrick Mahomes and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could just talk to her about getting [backstage]. That’s how it works in 1973.”

She continued, “This was more like I was in an ’80s John Hughes movie and he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox just being like, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to date me!? So I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about what I’ve been wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”

After Kelce and Swift — who recently announced The Life of a Showgirl, dropping on October 3 — went public with their romance, he shared his side of the story.

“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid,” he told WSJ. Magazine in November 2023. “She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out.”
