Jay Leno Reveals How Harrison Ford Reacted When He Made Him a 3D-Printed Toilet Seat (Exclusive)

Jay Leno revealed why he recently helped out Harrison Ford with an unusual request: making him a 3D-printed toilet seat.

Leno spoke to PEOPLE exclusively at a press event for his charitable organization, The Love Ride Foundation, in Glendale, Calif., on Sep. 8. During the conversation, the former late-night host revealed that the Star Wars actor recently got in touch about an extremely specific conundrum.

“In [Ford’s] office in Wyoming, he’s got some kind of unusual toilet with an unusual toilet seat, and he couldn’t find a toilet seat [replacement],” Leno, 75, explains.

“So he called me and said, ‘Can you 3D print me one?’ I said, ‘Bring me the old one.’ So he brought me the old one, and we 3D printed it,” he adds.

The comedian also said that the project didn’t take long and that Ford, 83, was impressed with the final result.

“He’s stunned how good it turned out,” Leno said, joking, “So anybody that needs a 3D-printed toilet seat, let me know.

“It was very funny. He’s very funny. Nice guy,” he continued.

News initially broke of the toilet seat debacle when Leno accidentally called Ford while the Indiana Jones star was appearing on the NPR interview podcast Wild Card with Rachel Martin.

“Jay Leno is calling you right now?” Martin asked Ford as Leno’s name appeared across his phone screen.

“About my toilet seat,” Ford replied, adding, “Jay’s printing a 3D-printed toilet seat for me.”

Ford went on to explain to the bemused host that Leno owns a host of nifty machines — including several 3D printers.

“So he’s got these 3D printers. And I had this toilet seat from a toilet that is not in production anymore. And the toilet seat has discolored in a way that is really unattractive. […] I can’t find [a replacement] toilet seat anywhere. I couldn’t — I tried for years, and friends in the plumbing industry helped try [for] me — to try and get the [seat]. Can’t get the seat,” he continued.

He added, “And I’m just sitting around one day, like last week, saying, […] can I 3D print this?”

“It’s really hard to make that kind of call. Hey, Jay Leno. It’s me, Harrison Ford,” the actor joked, noting that he hadn’t seen the comedian since he left The Tonight Show in 2014.

“He embraced the project,” Ford added of Leno.
