‘The White Lotus’ Show, Cast and Director Leave With Empty Bags at the 2025 Emmy Awards
The White Lotus received a lot of nominations at the 2025 Emmy Awards, but ultimately went home with nothing.
Mike White’s hit anthology series received a total of 23 nominations at the 77th annual ceremony, including Outstanding Drama Series, which was awarded to The Pitt.
Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Aimee Lou Wood all earned nods for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. However, Jean Smart took home the trophy for the second year in a row for her role in Hacks.
For Outstanding Supporting Actor, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs and Sam Rockwell were nominated. They lost to Tramell Tillman for Severance.
White also received consideration for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Outstanding Directing went to Adam Randall for Slow Horses while Outstanding Writing was awarded to Dan Gilroy for Andor.
Scott Glenn got a nomination for Outstanding Drama Guest Actor, but the award ultimately went to Shawn Hatosy for The Pitt during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were held on September 6 and 7.
The White Lotus also lost Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Contemporary Costumes for a Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (One Hour), Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling, Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), Outstanding Music Composition for a Series, Outstanding Music Supervision, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More), Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Title Design.
The series did earn one award at the Creative Arts ceremony. Composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer won Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. Tapia de Veer has composed the score for The White Lotus since its inaugural season and previously took home Outstanding Music Composition For A Series in 2022 and 2023.
Tapia de Veer’s most recent win comes five months after he exited the series amid an alleged feud with White. The pair were reportedly at odds over the third season’s theme song. (Fans were disappointed when the show’s iconic “ooh-loo-loo-loos” were not featured in the intro.)
“I texted the producer and I told him that it would be great to, at some point, give [the fans] the longer version with the ooh-loo-loo-loos, because people will explode if they realize that it was going there anyway,” Tapia de Veer told the New York Times in April. “He thought it was a good idea. But then Mike cut that — he wasn’t happy about that.”
White later addressed Tapia de Veer’s claims and shared that there was no feud on his end.
“He says we feuded. I don’t think I ever had a fight with him — except for maybe some emails,” White told the Hollywood Reporter. “It was basically me giving him notes. I don’t think he liked to go through the process of getting notes from me, or wanting revisions, because he didn’t respect me. I knew he wasn’t a team player and that he wanted to do it his way.”
