There’s a new member of the Hudson crew stepping into the world of acting – Oliver Hudson’s 18-year-old son, Wilder Hudson.

The teen will make his acting debut in his dad’s upcoming holiday film, A Merry Little Ex-Mas, a performance that brought Oliver, 49, to tears.

“I’m sitting there listening in [on] the movie, and after his first take, I, for the first time, just started crying. Because I couldn’t believe that this was my son,” Oliver told People on Tuesday, October 14, of his son’s performance. “I stepped out of myself a little bit, and I’m like, ‘This is my son who is doing great and who has never done this before. He’s just going head first into the fire, and he’s in my world now, and I’m just so proud of him.’”

Oliver continued, “I just swelled with this pride that I’d never felt before, and it was just overwhelming and it made me emotional. That was a moment for me that I will never, ever forget.”

Wilder “had just finished an acting class outside of school” before landing the role of Gabriel in the film. The proud dad teased that at the end of the movie, Wilder’s character gives “a big speech” that he was “really nervous about it.” Based on Oliver’s emotional reaction, it seems like Wilder knocked it out of the park.

Oliver, who also shares son Bodhi, 15, and daughter Rio, 12, with wife Erinn Bartlett, and Wilder were featured in A Merry Little Ex-Mas trailer, which debuted on Tuesday. Oliver portrays the character Everett, a doctor who shares kids Sienna (Emily Hunt) and Gabriel with wife Kate (Alicia Silverstone). Things change drastically for the couple once their kids get older and prepare to fly the nest, leading them to begin divorce proceedings.

Everett begins dating Tess (Jameela Jamil) and Kate begins a flirty dialogue with Chet (Pierson Fodé) to try and make her ex jealous. From the trailer alone, it seems like the holiday flick will explore a fair share of drama between the former couple and their new partners and teases plenty of Christmas magic in store. The Steve Carr-directed rom-com also stars Melissa Joan Hart.

The trailer is already putting viewers in the Christmas spirit with its impressive cast, with one person commenting, “Melissa Joan hart and Alicia silverstone in the same movie 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” via YouTube.

“Lets goooo !!!!! PIERSON FODE on it again❤❤❤,” a second person said, while a third wrote, “As nostalgia as this cast is!!! I’m also here for Pierson fode era. Dude got real potential.”
