See KISS guitarist Ace Frehley’s last photo before his death
Ace Frehley showed some love for a fan in his final Instagram photo before his death on Thursday.
In the image shared to his account on Sept. 24, the former KISS band member posed with one of his female fans while holding up some of her artwork.
“Glenn wanted to share her VIP with Ace on the 10,000 Volts Tour, and her painting is a hand holding a heart referencing the lyrics of Rip It Out. ‘Rip it out! Take my heart.’ OF COURSE Ace signed it!👈,” the caption read.
“Backstage isn’t a dream- it’s your next story. VIP Meet & Greet packages are live. Step backstage and meet Ace,” he closed.
The guitarist died at age 74 following a recent hospitalization where he was placed on life support for a brain bleed.
The musician’s family confirmed the rock star’s passing in a statement released Thursday.
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth,” the statement said.
The family closed, “We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
Frehley landed in the hospital after he suffered a fall in his studio around the same time that his final photo was posted.
In light of the accident, his doctor suggested he “refrain from travel,” according to a statement that has since been deleted from his Instagram.
On Oct. 6, he canceled the remainder of his 2025 tour dates due to “some ongoing medical issues.”
Frehley’s former bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley also sent their condolences to his family in a statement on Thursday, saying they were “devastated” over the loss.
“He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history,” the two stars told Page Six.
“He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy. Our thoughts are with [his estranged wife] Jeanette, [daughter] Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”
