Jackie Apostel Reveals How She Met Cruz Beckham, Shares BTS Photos from Boyfriend’s Music Video: ‘Unbelievable Musician’

Music lies at the heart of Cruz Beckham and Jackie Apostel’s relationship — and fittingly, at the start of it.

As Victoria and David Beckham’s youngest son, 20, pursues a career as a musician — he released a new song, “Optics,” on Friday, Oct. 24 — his 29-year-old songwriter girlfriend shared a supportive message and some behind-the-scenes pictures from the accompanying music video.

Apostel also revealed how the couple, who began sparking dating rumors over a year ago, first crossed paths.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, ahead of the song’s release, Apostel shared her beau’s post announcing “Optics” — which was released alongside another song, “Lick The Toad” — and penned a sweet tribute to the rising musician.

“We first met when we were put into a studio by our managers to write some songs together,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “I was told you had been working on your own project for ages and shifting sounds a bit, finding yourself.”

“I went in with an open mind and no idea what to expect,” she continued. “I left that day knowing you were an unbelievable musician but most importantly that you loved it so much from the bottom of your heart and you would never stop, regardless of what anyone else thought.”

As they worked on music together, Apostel said, “that work became friendship and friendship became us.” Now, she continued, “you’ve gone out and found who you want to be right now and are finally ready to share it.”

She then teased that Cruz’s two new tracks are “just a fun little warm up,” before hinting, “I hope you guys are ready for what’s next.”

“I am so proud of you,” she wrote, tagging the singer. “I love seeing you do everything you said you would. I am your biggest fan forever. I love you.”

On Oct. 24, Apostel — who is credited as “brand strategist” in the “Optics” music video — also shared some behind-the-scenes shots of the visual, a laid-back video that takes place primarily in a field.

“A day in the country, a craigslist couch and a couple friends 🤝,” the songwriter wrote in the caption. “Watch to the end for the surprise cutie in the drivers seat,” she added, teasing a four-legged cameo. “Optics video out now!”

Cruz also celebrated his singles’ release with a show in England, which Apostel documented in a clip on Instagram Stories. She then shared a picture of her outfit for the show, a leopard print and black leather ensemble, in a post simply captioned, “Gig attire!”

The latest comments from Apostel come weeks after she made headlines for addressing critics of her and Cruz’s relationship.

Earlier this month, the songwriter defended their age gap in the comments of an Instagram post shared by Cruz’s mom, Victoria.

“Why is a 29 year old dating a 20 [year old],” an Instagram user commented on Victoria’s Fashion Week post, later clarifying that they were referring to the couple. The user also wrote, “That’s just weird.”

In response, Apostel commented back: “Because he’s kind, funny, smart, caring, driven, mature, talented, loyal, and also quite handsome 🥰.”

Cruz was first spotted with Apostel at Glastonbury Music Festival in June 2024, per E! News. The pair was spotted a couple more times together in the following months, and went Instagram official in October 2024.
