Jeremy Renner’s film partner accuses actor of sending ‘intimate’ texts, making ICE threats
Jeremy Renner’s filmmaking partner is accusing him of sending “intimate” messages, going on drunken rants that left her “scared for [her] life” and threatening to “call ICE” after their falling out.
Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou — who directed the documentary “Chronicles of Disney” and the animated movie “Stardust Future: Stars and Scars,” both starring Renner — initially made her allegations via Instagram.
“Mr. Renner first contacted me directly in June, sending personal and intimate photographs of himself, behavior that, according to public reports, he has exhibited before,” she claimed to her followers on Monday.
“He convinced me of his sincerity, saying he had been single for a long time and open to a long-term relationship,” she continued. “I believed in him, in the power of love and in the possibility of redemption.”
Zhou claimed Renner soon “entered into written agreements” with her production company but later “refused” to promote their projects, instead “denying any personal relation or professional collaboration.”
“When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me,” Zhou alleged, adding that the “misinformation and intimidation” caused her “personal and reputational harm.”
She went on to write that it took her “a long time” to feel “the courage to … speak up” about “such a pain and humiliation.”
Zhou expanded on her claims in an interview with the Daily Mail on Thursday, providing the outlet with a screenshot of a clip Renner allegedly sent her via WhatsApp in June.
The video, which depicted a male porn actor and female porn actress engaging in a sexual act, was allegedly sent with the message, “Oh, yes ? 🤤 This ok ???”
Zhou claimed to have “a collection of those photos and the porn gifs that he sent.”
She previously posted a picture of a man’s naked torso on her Instagram Story, alleging to the Daily Mail that it was a photo Renner had sent her — unsolicited.
“I did not reach out to him; he pursued me,” she insisted. “I didn’t even know his name, never watched a movie of his. He used me and denied me and denied our work.”
Zhou, 37, claimed she and the actor, 54, dated for a period of time after he first contacted her. She previously posted videos on Instagram of herself riding with him in his convertible car near his home in Reno, Nev.
One night in August, Zhou claimed to the Daily Mail, Renner allegedly got aggressively drunk during a work meeting at his house.
“I was discussing … doc logistics, then he drank a bottle of wine alone and got angry and [began] angry-yelling for two hours,” Zhou claimed.
“I had to location-share to my team, my parents and Disney colleagues in case something happen[ed] to me [so] they [knew] where I [was].”
Zhou claimed she had to “lock [herself] in a room to be safe” and started “praying he would not come into the room at night, as he was really angry.” She remained silent and recalled feeling “scared for [her] life” but did assure a colleague she would be safe staying at Renner’s place.
She provided the outlet with screenshots of messages she sent loved ones that night, writing that she was “worried” because Renner was allegedly being “violent.”
Sometime after their professional and personal relationships soured, Zhou allegedly told Renner in a WhatsApp message obtained by the Daily Mail, “Go to hell … U r a pig … U use all apps to send d–k pix.”
Renner allegedly responded, “Immigration will be notified of your –.” Zhou refused to provide the outlet with the rest of the message, which was cut off.
When Zhou allegedly reached out to Renner about “negative” social media haters accusing her of “play[ing] the victim,” he allegedly responded that he does not know or control those people.
Reps for the star — who nearly died in a 2023 snow plow accident — did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Renner was previously married to Sonni Pacheco, who accused the actor in 2019 court filings of substance abuse, threatening to kill her and firing a gun with their daughter present, all of which Renner dismissed as “nonsense.”
The former couple now share joint custody of 12-year-old Ava.
