Meghan Trainor Slams ‘Evil’ Comments About Her Weight Loss and Nose: ‘I Cried So Much’

Meghan Trainor is sharing how mean social media comments about her new appearance have affected her.

Trainor, 31, said in a Tuesday, November 18, interview with Extra that she’s seen in an increase in social media criticism since losing 60 pounds. “Like, all my comments were just evil, attacking me,” she said.

“I started posting pictures of myself recently, just like I always did, but for some reason, a flame went off and everyone got mad,” she continued. “Just like, ‘Ew, don’t recognize you. You’re just a walking nose.’ Crazy stuff. Like, mean.”

She added, “I was like, ‘This doesn’t affect me.’ Yes, it did. I cried so much. They got to me. And my therapist was like, ‘You give them a lot of power,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I wish I didn’t.’ So I’m trying to learn at 31 how to not give strangers power.”

It isn’t just online that Trainor is facing abuse. The “All About That Bass” singer said someone recently came up to her in person to comment on her appearance.

“Didn’t say hi. Wasn’t like, ‘Nice to meet you.’ Was just like, ‘Yo, I saw a video of you earlier and you, like, shed all this weight,’” the singer recalled. “I was like, ‘Hello? Nice to meet you?’”

Trainor is channeling the negativity into another self-empowerment anthem, “Still Don’t Care,” the lead single from her forthcoming album, Toy With Me.

“I wrote down what people have said to me online or in person,” she said. “I wanted to write a big song about it. I was just like, ‘Leave me alone. I don’t care.’ … When I play it for the team or my family members, they just sob.”

Trainor, who shares sons Riley, 4, and Barry, 2, with actor husband Daryl Sabara, said that she’s been on a personal health journey for several years, but has particularly overhauled her diet and exercise routines since giving birth to her second child in July 2023. In March, she admitted to using GLP-1 medication Mounjaro — the brand name for tirzepatide — to aid her goals.

She said, “I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been and the most fit. It was like school. I had to learn what food was healthy for me and what was good with my digestion. … My last baby was two years ago, and I’ve been nonstop focusing on my health and fitness.”

Trainor also opened up about the message behind “Still Don’t Care,” a song hitting back at people scrutinizing her appearance, in a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight.

“‘I’m literally, for the first time ever, after having babies, taking care of my health to the highest level. I’ve never felt better, and I look incredible. I feel great,” Trainor said in a Thursday, November 13, interview. “And that’s when people attack me.”

She added, “I was like, ‘Wait a second. I’m taking care of myself. You don’t like it?’ So what am I supposed to do? I have to find a way to not be affected by that.”

In March, Trainor wrote in an Instagram post how Mounjaro had helped her become the “healthiest, strongest version of myself.”

She shared, “No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago. … I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy. And I’m so glad I did because I feel great.”
