Doja Cat channels Cyndi Lauper in pink wig for Tour Ma Vie show

Her dramatic feathered pink wig — styled by hairstylist Jared Henderson, better known as JStay Ready — was reminiscent of Lauper’s signature jagged cuts and neon dye jobs. Makeup artist Ivan Núñez matched the vibrant look with slashes of dark blue and electric yellow eyeshadow.

The ensemble was styled by Brett Alan Nelson, Doja’s creative director, who has been instrumental in bringing her totally ’80s-inspired “Vie” era to life.

The aesthetic draws heavily from icons like Lauper, Madonna, Prince, and Janet Jackson — all artists Doja has cited as influences for her fifth studio album.

Lauper herself would likely approve of Doja’s theatrical approach. The “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” legend has been vocal about her appreciation for today’s pop stars who prioritize visual performance art, recently praising Chappell Roan for the same quality after Roan’s VMAs performance in September.

“The hair alone, come on!” Lauper told Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live.” “And the fact that it’s performance art. And it’s visual, it’s so visual. You know I love those visual things, obviously.”

Roan later paid tribute to Lauper at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in November, wearing a custom newspaper skirt inspired by the icon’s “True Colors” music video. Doja Cat performed at the same event, Doja Cat covering OutKast’s “Ms. Jackson.”

Doja has been fully committed to the ’80s aesthetic throughout Tour Ma Vie, which kicked off Nov. 18 in Auckland, New Zealand and runs through December 2026, when it will close out in New York City.

Her dedication to channeling music icons extends beyond Lauper. Last month, Doja wore a chainmail dress inspired by Tina Turner’s “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” look for her Vogue World: Hollywood performance.

In September, she kicked off her “Vie” era at the VMAs in a pastel Balmain mini dress with butter yellow platform heels and a lipstick-shaped Judith Leiber clutch.

The album was released Sept. 26 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in its first week.
