‘DWTS’ fans call out Witney Carson for dissing Dylan Efron in shady texts with husband
“Dancing With the Stars” fans believe Witney Carson took a swipe at finalist Dylan Efron before she won the Mirrorball Trophy.
In a since-deleted Reel, the Season 34 champion gushed over her husband Carson McAllister’s support and included a screenshot of one of their text exchanges.
McAllister raved over how “freaking good” his wife’s performance was with partner Robert Irwin in the message — but eagle-eyed Reddit users took note of the back-and-forth visible just above.
“Zac Efron is here,” McAllister, 32, wrote, referencing the “High School Musical” star’s long-awaited arrival at the Nov. 18 semi finals to watch his younger brother.
Carson, also 32, replied, “I saw! They are trying to get votes.”
The pro quickly deleted the reel, as many took issue with what Carson wrote about Dylan and his partner, Daniella Karagach.
“If he really wanted to get votes that desperately he could’ve had Zac there every week,” one pointed out, with another noting that the actor, 38, was not even included “as part of [Dylan’s] dedication week dance.”
Others came to Carson’s defense and doubted she was throwing shade at all.
One fan wrote, “Idk why everyone thinks she’s implying it’s a bad thing! Like yes they were probably hoping Zac would get Dylan more votes. And I’m sure Wit was hoping for the same with Bindi and the Irwin fam. There is nothing obviously negative or even judgmental about what she said!”
Another claimed that haters were “making this deeper than it needs to be.”
Reps for Carson, Karagach, Zac and Dylan did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
It is common for dance duos to have strategies throughout the season in an effort to rack up viewer votes.
Prince William made a surprise cameo on the Nov. 11 episode to wish his friend Irwin good luck in the competition.
Irwin also performed shirtless for the Sept. 30 show and even sparked a showmance with former ‘DWTS’ contestant Xochitl Gomez.
Dylan, notably, insisted to Extra in October that he was fine with Zac “doing his thing” and “supporting [him] every day” in his own way.
When Zac did appear in the audience, the “17 Again” star was all smiles sitting front and center with little sister Olivia, 5, on his lap.
The former Disney Channel star was not present when Dylan took fourth place on Tuesday’s finale, as Robert, 21, and Carson won.
At the time, the zoologist honored Bindi by saying, “My sister said it best. ‘Thank you for changing my life.’”
The emotional moment marked Carson’s second time coming out on top, as she previously won with “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” alum Alfonso Ribeiro in Season 19.
