Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams Celebrate New Year’s Together with His Normal People Costar Daisy Edgar-Jones

Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams celebrated the arrival of 2026 with some normal people!

A group of smiling pals, including Mescal’s Normal People costar Daisy Edgar-Jones and his Gladiator II costar Fred Hechinger, rang in the new year with the couple. In a Wednesday, Dec. 31 Instagram post from Irish actor Fionn O’Shea, 11 friends cozied up together and posed joyfully for the camera. 

House of Guinness actor O’Shea, 28, starred with Mescal, 29, and Edgar-Jones, 27, in the 2020 Hulu limited series Normal People, based on Sally Rooney’s hit novel of the same name. He captioned his Instagram update simply: “2026. X”

Abrams, 26, has been linked to Mescal since June 2024. The largely private Hamnet star and the singer-songwriter have supported each other at their respective events, with Mescal attending her concerts and Abrams joining the November 2024 premiere of Gladiator II.

“Despite their busy schedules, the couple is making each other a priority,” a source told PEOPLE in April 2025. “There’s no denying the strong chemistry between Paul and Gracie, true lovebirds.” 

Since their breakout performances in Normal People, Mescal and Edgar-Jones have hung out consistently (including during the 2022 Met Gala, which yielded a viral moment with Mescal’s then-girlfriend Phoebe Bridgers). In a 2024 interview with Variety, the Twisters star called him one of her “lifetime best friends… We met when I was 20 and Paul was 22; I’m so excited to see where we’ll be at 32, 42, and what life will bring us.”

Edgar-Jones sent Normal People fans into a frenzy over a possible season two when she posted a selfie with Mescal in May 2024, captioning that post, “We’ve got some news to share!!” and “Watch this space.”

Hechinger, 26, has remained close with Mescal and by extension Abrams; the White Lotus star was spotted alongside the “That’s So True” singer at the June 2025 Glastonbury Festival.
