Jennifer Lopez reveals her new relationship dealbreakers after Ben Affleck divorce
Jennifer Lopez reveals her next boyfriend needs to accept her for who she is and respect her.
The superstar performed her 1999 hit “If You Had My Love” at her show in Las Vegas Saturday night and reflected on her song’s lyrics more than two decades laters — and after a string of failed high-profile romances, including her divorce from Ben Affleck.
“When I first sang it, I was very young,” she told the audience in video shared on social media from her show. “And I sang it with a lot of hope.”
“But I’ve also sang it over the years, I’ve sang it while I was sad,” she continued. “And I’ve sang it when I was happy. But now, today, you know how I sing it? I sing it in power.”
“Because the truth is, if you wanted to have my love, you would have to earn it.” she said as her fans cheered loudly. “You would have to treat me right. You would have to respect me.”
“You’d have to accept me for all that I am,” she continued. “You’d have to love me if you wanted my love.”
Lopez, 56, went on to note that she knew love was “a complicated thing.”
“You can’t have love without heartbreak,” she shared. “You can’t. That’s what you sign up for.”
Lopez hasn’t been shy about poking fun at her divorce from Affleck, 53, alluding to it during opening night of her new Vegas residency.
Referencing her previous “Jennifer Lopez: All I Have” residency, Lopez asked her fans, “It went by in a blink, didn’t it, for those of you who were there on opening night 10 years ago?”
“And, you know, at that time I’d only been married twice,” she joked.
The audience laughed as Lopez corrected herself.
“That’s not true. It was only once. Felt like twice. I’m just kidding,” she quipped.
“It’s over and we just, boom, and it’s fine. It’s all good,” the pop star continued. “The good news is that I’m learning and I’m growing. We’re in our happy era right now.”
Lopez has been married four times.
The “Hustlers” actress was married to Cuban waiter Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998; to dancer Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003; to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014; and to Ben Affleck from 2022 to 2025.
