The reason Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens stopped speaking
Years before Ashley Tisdale’s “toxic” mom group drama, her longtime friendship with Vanessa Hudgens reportedly fizzled over a boy.
“Vanessa and Ashley were already drifting apart just due to becoming two different adults from the young girls they were when they became friends,” a source told the Sun of the “High School Musical” alums.
“But their friendship officially ended when Austin [Butler] broke up with Vanessa,” they claimed.
“Ashley and Austin are best friends too and Vanessa felt Ashley was much more supportive of Austin than she was of her.”
Hudgens reportedly “didn’t feel supported during that breakup and felt Ashley focused on herself, her family, and her problems when Vanessa was in a time of need.”
The source alleged that “eventually, it was healthier for them to no longer have a close friendship, so there was never a question of Ashley being invited to her wedding.”
“By that time, they were done,” the source continued.
Hudgens and Butler split in 2020. The “Sucker Punch” star subsequently married Cole Tucker in December 2023 — without Tisdale in attendance — and has since welcomed two children with the former MLB athlete.
Hudgens, however, was Tisdale’s bridesmaid at her 2014 nuptials to Christopher French — Tisdale and French are also parents of two children.
The outlet’s source claimed that the Disney Channel alum, 40, “Tries to seem like a girl’s girl, but she doesn’t back that up when she’s needed by her closest friends.”
Reps for Tisdale and Hudgens did not immediately return Page Six’s requests for comment.
During a 2024 interview on “Watch What Happens Live,” Tisdale confessed that she hadn’t seen Hudgens “in a long time.”
“Obviously, she’s working, I’m working,” she said at the time.
Tisdale has been under fire since publishing an essay in The Cut earlier this month, labeling her former mom group as “toxic” because it made her feel “not cool enough” after being excluded from hangouts.
She claimed she texted the group to announce her departure because it was “too high school” for her.
Though she didn’t name names, the actress has been linked to a star-studded mom group that includes A-listers like Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff and Meghan Trainor.
Since then, Trainor and other mom group members have weighed in, as well as some of their husbands — with Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, lashing out and seemingly labeling Tisdale “self-obsessed” and “tone deaf.”
A source alleged to Page Six earlier this week that Koma “gave her what she had coming.”
The source further labeled Tisdale “insufferable,” and said that the group’s rift with Tisdale “has been a long time coming.”
