Joel Kim Booster and John-Michael Sudsina have said “I do!”

The couple tied the knot in front of family and friends during a New Year’s Eve ceremony in San Francisco on Dec. 31.

“Joel and JM got married!!!!!❤️❤️,” attendee Mitra Jouhari captioned an Instagram post about the festivities, as fellow guest Henry Callander also shared images from the event, writing, “Joel x JM 2025 💋❤️.”

Booster himself even nodded to the wedding in a Jan. 8 Instagram post. “My husband and my wife,” the actor and comedian, 37, captioned a photo series that included a snapshot of himself and Sudsina, as well as one of him and Jouhari.

Booster first announced his engagement to the Sims video game producer in a social media post in August 2024.

At the time, Booster’s Instagram carousel caption told viewers to “keep scrolling for a special surprise,” with the couple revealing towards the end that the KPop Demon Hunters actor had proposed during a trip to his birthplace of Jeju Island, South Korea.

He showed photo footage of himself popping the question on bended knee, as the couple was on a daytime boat ride, about three years after they began dating.

Booster previously opened up about planning his wedding to Sudsina on several occasions.

In a March episode of the Grindr Presents: Who’s the A——? with Katya podcast, he said he wanted his ceremony to be grand. “I do want it to be a production. And I’m in a place in my life where I’m lucky enough where I can make it a production,” the Fire Island writer and star said.

Booster also spoke with PEOPLE exclusively throughout 2025, detailing how he wanted to incorporate his South Korean heritage into his big day.

“The suit that I want to wear, I want it to reference a traditional Korean hanbok that you would wear at a wedding, but reference,” the Joel Kim Booster: Psychosexual star said in May. “I want there to be little touches in the ceremony.”

He added, “I might have my best man carry a duck down the aisle, which is a tradition.” Carrying Mandarin-style wooden ducks (won-ang seteu) down the aisle symbolizes the groom’s commitment to his partner and represents virtues like fidelity, harmony, and family in Korean culture. Similarly, Jeonanyrye is the “presentation of the wild goose.”

In June, Booster revealed that Las Culturistas podcast co-hosts and friends Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers were going to be in the wedding party, and he had even tasked the groomsmen with giving a toast during the reception.

“They will be giving a joint toast, actually. And I set them off on that project and I have no idea what it will be, but I’m sure it will be insane either way,” Booster said.

Before the wedding, in November, the two actors joked with PEOPLE that they hadn’t even started planning their speech.

“I’ll tell you what we’re not excited about — which we haven’t even thought about — is that we’re supposed to give a joint toast,” Rogers admitted, before adding that it was on their to-do list.

Rogers also revealed how Fire Island, which was adapted from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice by Booster, mirrored his friend’s real-life courtship with Sudsina.

After recently rewatching it, he said, “I was just thinking about how that film about a group of friends who are together is very much based on our real friendships. And then it’s about someone who wants to meet a boyfriend on vacation. And that idea of having a vacation boyfriend and lugging him back to the real world actually happened to Joel.”

He added, “It was just a really lovely reminder, because we shot that movie over four years ago and to just know that was right after [Joel] had met [John-Michael] and that they’re getting married now and that we’re all gonna be there, it’s just a very, very special thing. I’m very excited for him.”

“John-Michael is such a lovely person,” Rogers continued, adding that “we all had such a fun time together in New Orleans celebrating their bachelor weekends.”
