Elon Musk wants full custody of son with Ashley St. Clair after her transgender apology

Elon Musk is after full custody of his and Ashley St. Clair‘s 1-year-old son, Romulus.

The Tesla CEO tweeted his intention to file on Monday in response to an X user claiming he “needs full custody” due to St. Clair allegedly “coming out in support of trans grooming.”

Musk, in response, confirmed, “I will be filing for full custody today, given her statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy.”

It is unclear, however, which statements of St. Clair Musk was referring to — and reps for the duo have yet to respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The 27-year-old, notably, expressed remorse in an apology to the transgender community via X on over the weekend.

When asked about her past “blatant transphobia” on Sunday, St. Clair wrote, “I feel immense guilt for my role. … [I don’t really know] how to make amends for many of these things but I have been trying incredibly hard privately to learn + advocate for those within the trans community that I’ve hurt.”

She specifically mentioned Musk’s 21-year-old trans daughter, Vivian, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Justine Wilson.

Musk, 54, has been estranged from Vivian for years, quipping to the Financial Times in 2022 that “you can’t win them all.”

He has also repeatedly referred to Vivian by her deadname and claimed in 2024 that she was “killed by the woke mind virus.”

In St. Clair’s apology, she predicted her words would result in “right wing hysteria” — or be viewed as the other side as “disingenuous.”

Nevertheless, she concluded, “But yeah, I am sorry. Let me know how I can help.”

St. Clair made headlines last year for naming Musk as the father of her baby boy, with Musk’s paternity ultimately confirmed.

Musk has welcomed 13 other children over the years — six with Wilson, including Vivian, as well as four with Shivon Zilis and three with Grimes.

Grimes, who dated Musk on and off between 2018 and 2022, has showed her support for Vivian since splitting from Musk.

Following Musk’s “woke mind virus” comment in 2024, the singer tweeted, “I love and am forever endlessly proud of Vivian.”

The songwriter, 37, is engaged in her own messy custody battle with Musk over son X AE A-XII, 5, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, 4, and son Techno Mechanicus, 3.

Most recently, Grimes accused her “silly” ex of blocking her on social media while co-parenting remains her “priority” — and begged him to keep their little ones out of the public eye.

In March 2025, she tweeted, “The state of my children’s lives being public is of grave concern to me and I think about how to solve this every day.”
