Travis Kelce Shows Off New Haircut and Shave as Retirement Decision Looms
Travis Kelce’s barber made sure the Kansas City Chiefs star is looking fresh as fans wait for a decision about his NFL future.
Kelce, 36, hit up Vince Garcia at his Los Angeles-based shop for some grooming this week, which Garcia showed off on social media.
“Always good catching up fam! Preciate you 👊🏽💯,” Garcia posted via Instagram on Tuesday, January 13.
Kelce sported a Chiefs cape while sitting in Garcia’s barber’s chair for the photo, which showed Kelce’s buzz cut and tight beard.
The NFL star has been joined by his fiancée, Taylor Swift, on his trip to Los Angeles. The couple was seen having dinner at Beverly Hills restaurant Funke on Monday, January 12.
It’s a momentous offseason for Kelce, whose Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014, Kelce’s first full-time season in the league.
Kelce has not announced whether he plans on returning for another season.
A source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month that Kelce has been in talks with Netflix to “serve as their exclusive broadcast sports correspondent.
Terms of a potential deal with Netflix are “still being finalized, but discussions are well underway,” according to the insider.
Another source exclusively told Us that Kelce “has had talks with his team about retiring and not playing football next season.”
Whatever Kelce chooses, he’ll look good doing it thanks to his barber, who he’s trusted for years.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in April 2025, Garcia said he and Kelce have “a really great relationship.”
“Throughout the years, he’ll come to my barbershop [or] he’ll come to my house and get cut,” Garcia said. “The majority of his commercials I’ve done with him. He keeps me around to get him ready for an appearance or a TV show. Over the years of doing that consistently with him, it’s just like any relationship. The more you see each other, the more you grow personally.”
He added, “He’s a great dude, man. A great friend, as well.”
Garcia even came to Kelce’s defense after rumors spread that the football star had undergone a hair transplant last year.
Nah, not at all, man,” Garcia told Us. “That’s a full head of hair right there.”
As for Kelce’s football future, he remained coy after the Chiefs regular season finale against the Las Vegas Raiders on January 4.
“I’ve got so much love for this team, this organization and the people here, so I’ll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow and get close to the family and figure things out,” Kelce told reporters.
He added, “Who knows? Either it hits me quick or I gotta take some time. I think last year was a little bit easier.”
Travis’ older brother, Jason Kelce, has acknowledged that hanging up the cleats is a difficult decision to make.
“In my opinion, to nail that decision, you have to step away from the game for a little bit,” Jason, 38, said on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown in December. “Play these last three games, enjoy them with your teammates, enjoy them with your coaches. The team’s going to be different no matter whether you come back or not next year.”
Travis and Jason, who cohost the mega popular podcast “New Heights,” announced another creative venture set to hit shelves this offseason. The brothers coauthored No Dumb Questions: And All of Our Dumbest Answers, a book based on a segment on the podcast, which will be released in June.
