Sara Foster once went on ‘depressing’ date with George Clooney thanks to Cindy Crawford

Sara Foster revealed she once went on a “depressing” date with George Clooney after being set up by her famous pal Cindy Crawford and Cindy’s husband, Rande Gerber.

“I got set up with George Clooney, like, 30 years ago. It was such a blah. Sorry, had to say it,” Foster told her sister Erin Foster on Thursday’s episode of their “The World’s First Podcast.”

“It was just such a hard no,” Sara, 44, continued. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh, he is so old.’”

“I’m sure George Clooney is a nice guy, but I just remember it being the four of us sitting there and thinking like, ‘I’m gonna die, like I’m gonna die,’” Sara said, noting that she was also “so sad” about another recent breakup at the time.

“Then, here’s this one who just feels like a grandpa. It was depressing. I was so depressed,” she continued.

The “90210” star added that she ultimately felt “offended” that Crawford and Gerber would attempt to set her up with the Oscar winner, now 64, who was so many years her senior.

“I always say that when I see these young girls dating older guys. Like, yes, of course, sometimes it makes sense, and it’s all the things,” she reflected.

She continued, “I’ve never understood a 19-year-old that’s into a 40-year-old. I just always thought that was so weird.”

Sara also made sure to clarify that she feels Clooney wasn’t exactly too hot about her after their date either.

“I also think it wasn’t George being like, ‘Oh, set me up with Sara Foster.’ I think it was more like Rande and Cindy being like, ‘We know someone great,’” she said.

“I don’t think he was that into it either. I started crying about my ex to him. So I think he was like, ‘This chick’s not okay,’” she quipped.

A rep for Clooney did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Foster went on to settle down with tennis player Tommy Haas, with whom she shares two daughters: Valentina, 14, and Josephine, 9.

The couple eventually split after nearly 20 years together in August 2024.

Clooney, on the other hand, went on to marry his wife, Amal Clooney, in September 2014. The couple are parents to 8-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.
