Kate Middleton reflects on ‘moments of fear’ after cancer battle
Cancer-free Kate Middleton reflected on the “moments of fear and exhaustion” she faced before entering remission.
The Princess of Wales took to Instagram Wednesday to share a heart-warming video of herself visiting with cancer patients.
“On World Cancer Day, my thoughts are with everyone who is facing a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment or finding their way through recovery,” she said in a voiceover.
“Cancer touches so many lives — not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them,” Middleton, 44, continued.
“As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it’s not linear. There are moments of fear and exhaustion. But also moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection.”
She urged those impacted by cancer to be reminded of “the importance of care, understanding and hope,” adding, “Please know you are not alone.”
Middleton announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment.
That September, the royal shared that she had finished “incredibly tough” chemotherapy treatment, and announced she was in remission four months later.
At the time, she returned to her royal duties and announced her new role of Joint Patron of The Royal Marsde.
“My hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” Middleton wrote via Instagram in January 2025
Middleton slowly entered back into the spotlight in 2025, making several public outings, including at that year’s Royal Garden Party, Trooping the Colour and Wimbledon.
Prince William, meanwhile, reflected on his wife’s cancer journey during an appearance on Eugene Levy’s “The Reluctant Traveler” in October.
At the time, the Prince of Wales, 43, admitted he never thought his family would be impacted by cancer, saying, “But when it does happen to you, then it takes you into some pretty not-great places.”
However, he noted that now “everything is progressing in the right way.”
The couple shares three kids: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
