Savannah Guthrie shares message after footage of mom’s kidnapping suspect is released
Savannah Guthrie is pleading for the public’s help after the release of chilling footage of her mother Nancy Guthrie’s alleged kidnapper.
The “Today” show anchor posted footage of an armed and masked individual approaching the 84-year-old’s Tucson, Ariz., home via Instagram on Tuesday.
“Someone out there recognizes this person,” the journalist, 54, captioned the black-and-white clip, first shared by FBI Director Kash Patel. “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”
In another upload, the Daytime Emmy winner added, “We believe she is still alive.”
She concluded both by requesting, “Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900.”
Patel, 45, wrote via X that “law enforcement … uncovered these previously inaccessible new images” Tuesday morning.
He explained that “the video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”
Patel added, “Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices.”
In the disturbing videos, the suspect can be seen “approach[ing] Nancy’s front door” and “tamper[ing] with [her Nest] camera” in the early hours of Feb. 1, when she was reported missing.
News broke the following day that the matriarch’s residence was being treated as a crime scene, with investigators later revealing there were signs of forced entry and a blood trail.
Savannah, who has been off of NBC while navigating the crisis and dropped out of hosting the Winter Olympics 2026, first appealed to social media users for help on Feb. 2.
“thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant,” the former attorney wrote last week. “raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.
This is a developing story…
