David Archuleta shares his six favorite books
Ever wonder what your favorite celebrities are reading — whether it’s a timeless classic or the buzzy bestseller they can’t put down? Welcome to Page-Turners, where stars reveal the books that keep them hooked, inspired and up all night. Warning: your TBR pile is about to get a lot longer.
“American Idol” alum David Archuleta loves when a book makes him contemplate his own life.
“I like books that get me to reflect on life, to feel insightful and introspective, and motivating to find purpose in life,” Archuleta — whose new book “Devout” is out now — tells Page Six.
The “Crush” singer tells us he loves being cozy on his couch when he cracks open a book.
“…Or somewhere outside, like the park or the beach,” he adds.
See below for Archuleta’s six must-read book recommendations.
“I like to be raw, observant, introspective, and hopeful. I wanted to keep these elements in telling my story, and since this is the book I’ve spent the most time with over the last three years, I put it on this list.”
“This, I would say, is my favorite book. It’s not too long. Paulo Coelho’s ability to keep you engaged, especially if you have an easily distracted mind like mine, is so impressive and makes for such a satisfying read. I love the curiosity it brings, the adventure, and the exploration of oneself as well as of the world around you.”
“Another Paulo Coelho book. I am tempted to add more of his on my list just because he’s my favorite author. But again, his ability to tell a story that makes you feel a part of the moment while it’s happening, always inviting curiosity, and delving into more serious topics like mental health in this book was very relatable to me. I love that it also touched on difficulty with physical touch and intimacy for one of the characters, as that is something I can relate to and discuss in my book as well.”
“A more recent read for me. I was given it by a friend and fell in love with the mythological escape it gives, while bringing you into a beautiful intimate relationship between two humans. It’s the kind of dynamic in love that I daydream of.”
“Jennette’s ability to be raw, real, and straightforward with her story was inspiring for me. Having some similarities with our Mormon upbringings, challenges with a controlling parent, and learning to find your own voice after unhealthily attaching yourself to someone else for so long. It was a story where I felt seen and also felt encouraged to tell my own story. Jennette encouraged me during a chat we had to write my book and asked if I would be up to her introducing me to her team that she wrote her first book with. So Jennette and her book have influenced me in multiple ways and I’m truly grateful.”
“This is a book that is so short and simple and gives great advice. Unfortunately, I have such bad memory for retaining the information that I read. Luckily, since this is an easy read, it is a book I can always go back to and never tire of. The advice is applicable anytime I choose to pick it up.”
