Nicola Peltz re-creates Keira Knightley’s 2003 ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ premiere outfit

Nicola Peltz found a piece of buried treasure in her closet.

The actress, 31, stepped out this week in the same off-the-shoulder Valentino crop top that Keira Knightley wore to the “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” premiere at Disneyland in 2003 — one of the most memorable Y2K red carpet moments in Hollywood history.

Knightley was just 18 when she paired the ab-baring piece with low-slung bootcut jeans and a Tahitian pearl choker that nodded to the film’s setting, cementing her as one of the era’s definitive style stars.

Before Knightley took it to Disneyland, Gisele Bündchen wore the top while closing Valentino’s spring 2003 runway show; it was styled with the sash tied around her waist.

Peltz, for her part, debuted the vintage top in a Valentine’s Day Instagram post, sharing a kiss with husband Brooklyn Beckham, 26.

“I love you more everyday!! i’m so lucky i get to call you my forever valentine,” she wrote.

Two days later, she wore the piece again — this time with low-rise bootcut jeans, echoing Knightley’s original styling — for a dinner date at Vespertine in Culver City, Calif. The couple left the eatery hand in hand, with Beckham wearing a rose gold Patek Philippe watch valued at around $300,000 and toting two bottles of pricey vintage Bordeaux valued at over $3,000 and $1,000 apiece.

In a 2024 interview with the Times, Knightley, now 40, reflected on the Y2K style revival.

“It was all about my midriff,” she said, recalling the moment she spotted teenagers in London dressed in her old uniform. “I don’t have the midriff anymore, so it’s not coming out.”

This week’s dinner outing comes amid an ongoing and very public rift between Beckham and his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham. In January, the aspiring chef posted a six-page statement to Instagram announcing he had no desire to reconcile with his family, accusing his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage and of controlling press narratives.

Among his claims, Beckham alleged that his mother canceled making Peltz’s wedding gown “in the eleventh hour” ahead of their April 2022 nuptials in Palm Beach, Fla. — though previously published interviews with the bride and her stylist appear to contradict that timeline.

In the end, Peltz walked down the aisle in a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown — a different piece from the same Italian house that made her date-night crop top, but proof that the brand has been a longtime favorite.
