Mary Cosby celebrated son Robert Jr.’s jail release in final photos before his death
Mary Cosby posted a celebratory snap of her son, Robert Cosby Jr., weeks before her only child’s shocking death.
The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star honored the 23-year-old’s jail release on Feb. 7, writing, “#godfirst Love you all🙏❤️ My Beautiful Son. I love him sm❤️🙏.”
In Robert Jr.’s final photo, he sported an all-black ensemble and a tan beanie while standing outside with a serious expression.
Mary, 53, wrote over the picture, “Thank you for all the prayers. Love you.”
Her fellow Bravolebrities celebrated Robert Jr.’s return from Salt Lake County Metro Jail in the comments, with Bronwyn Newport gushing, “So happy he is home with you!”
“Amen,” Bozoma Saint John wrote at the time, while Kyle Richards, Gretchen Rossi and more reality stars sent heart emojis.
Robert Jr. shared similar photos to his own account the day before, with his carousel including a dog in most of the slides.
“I’m back :),” he captioned the Feb. 6 upload.
Robert Jr. spent two months behind bars for violating a pretrial protective order against estranged wife Alexiana Smokoff, who filed for divorce in November 2025 after his arrest.
The divorce was finalized in January.
As part of Robert Jr.’s Feb. 3 release, he was ordered to complete 75 hours of community service and complete substance abuse and anger management classes during his 24 months of probation.
Robert Jr.’s jail time “allowed him to sober up and start thinking clearly” after struggling with drug addiction, his lawyer, Clayton Simms, told Page Six earlier this month.
“He’s looking forward to doing positive things,” the attorney continued. “The difficulty is that he was slow to recognize the dissolution of his marriage. But now he understands the relationship is over, and he’s moving forward.”
Robert Jr. was found dead on Feb. 23 after the Salt Lake City Police Department “responded to an overdose call that turned into a death investigation,” Page Six confirmed Wednesday.
Mary and husband Robert Cosby released an emotional statement on social media, reading, “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord.
“Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace,” the couple continued. “We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
