Kristin Cavallari’s ‘Laguna Beach’ reunion dress nods to pilot episode

Two decades later and Kristin Cavallari’s still the girl in white.

The former “Laguna Beach” star, 39, wore a white strapless minidress and a black choker to Thursday night’s premiere event for “The Reunion: Laguna Beach” in a deliberate callback to the MTV show’s very first episode.

In the 2004 pilot, “A Black & White Affair,” co-star Lo Bosworth dismissed white dresses as “trashy and tacky” while getting ready for a black-and-white-themed party.

A teenage Cavallari showed up in white anyway, prompting Lauren Conrad to quip, “I like how we’re all wearing black and Kristin’s wearing white. How ironic” — a line that established the pair as rivals and set the tone for Cavallari’s’ role as the show’s resident rule-breaker.

Cavallari leaned into the moment, explaining her outfit choice on her brand Uncommon James’ Instagram Stories before hitting the red carpet at Shutters On The Beach in Santa Monica, Calif.

“Tonight I was like, I have to wear a white dress, and it has to be similar. So it’s like an elevated dress from the original,” she said.

She accessorized with the Uncommon James Laguna black choker ($45), beige lace-up sandals and a black clutch.

“Someone said Laguna Beach is back….and that means the black choker is too,” she wrote on Instagram.

This time around, Cavallari wasn’t alone in her color choice: co-stars Lauren Conrad and Morgan Smith (née Olsen) also wore white dresses to the premiere.

The premiere celebrated “The Reunion: Laguna Beach,” a two-hour Roku special premiering April 10 that brings the original cast — including Stephen Colletti, Bosworth and Talan Torriero — together on screen for the first time in 20 years. Cavallari, Conrad and Colletti also serve as executive producers.

In the reunion’s trailer, which dropped earlier this week, Cavallari addresses her former rival directly. “We have never had a conversation on camera just the two of us. Are you ready?” she asks Conrad.

The mom of three has said filming was “very therapeutic” and that she and Conrad are now friends. “Everyone can put away their team Lauren and team Kristin shirts now,” she wrote on Instagram last year.

“Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” debuted on MTV in September 2004 and ran for three seasons. Inspired by the teen drama “The O.C.,” the series followed a group of teens in the wealthy coastal California town and launched Conrad, Cavallari and Colletti into stardom — along with spin-offs “The Hills” and “The City.”
