Taylor Frankie Paul Returns to Instagram After ABC Canceled ‘The Bachelorette’
Taylor Frankie Paul returned to Instagram for the first time after ABC canceled her season of The Bachelorette.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 31, shared a video of her practicing the piano on Sunday, March 29, just over a week after ABC pulled the plug on the reality dating competition’s 22nd season.
“I was just playing around and found I kinda like this,” Taylor wrote over the video, in which she can be seen turned away from the camera and wearing a hoodie.
Taylor captioned the post, “I learned this today for no reason.. I think I have a real future in piano.”
ABC decided against airing the latest season of The Bachelorette starring Taylor after TMZ published footage of a 2023 domestic violence incident involving the reality star and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” a Disney Entertainment Television spokesperson told Us Weekly on March 19.
The footage published by TMZ stems from a February 2023 domestic violence incident in which Taylor appeared to throw barstools at Dakota, 33, in the presence of her young child. Taylor shares daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, with ex-husband Tate Paul and son Ever, 2, with Dakota.
“Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security,” a spokesperson for the Bachelorette star told Us in a March 19 statement. “After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”
After the video went public, Dakota filed for temporary custody of their son, which he was granted alongside a temporary protective order against Taylor earlier this month.
Production on season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was paused following allegations of a separate domestic incident between Taylor and Dakota in February.
A spokesperson for Utah’s Draper City Police Department confirmed to Us that it had an open “domestic assault investigation” into the alleged incident. “Allegations have been made in both directions,” said authorities, who added that contact was made with the “involved parties on [February] 24th and 25th.”
News broke of a third allegation of a domestic violence incident involving the exes on Wednesday, March 25. NBC News reported that Utah’s West Jordan Police Department was investigating an alleged dispute that took place in 2024 after Dakota contacted the department.
Us reached out to representatives for both Taylor and Dakota for comment at the time.
