Taylor Swift wore this Goop slip dress to a Paul McCartney concert
What do Kate Moss, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, Sarah Jessica Parker and Taylor Swift have in common? All four know the power of a perfect slip dress.
Swift was spotted at Paul McCartney’s star-studded LA concert last week wearing the Ondine Dress from Gwyn, Gwyneth Paltrow’s recently relaunched fashion line. Crafted from black silk and trimmed with French lace, the simple, square-neck design also features a side slit, whisper-thin straps and delicate pintucks to highlight the wearer’s waist.
The “Life of a Showgirl” singer paired the piece with little besides a pair of strappy black heels and her gorgeous old mine-cut engagement ring from fiancé Travis Kelce, showing how a sophisticated slip doesn’t need much additional styling to shine.
That said, when it comes to this versatile closet classic, the styling opportunities are pretty endless. A slip dress layers beautifully over tights and a turtleneck for cold weather — just add a leather jacket, oversized blazer or faux fur coat for extra warmth — or atop a white T-shirt for a laid-back ’90s vibe.
In terms of footwear, this style’s a cinch to dress down with sneakers, ballet flats, boots or loafers, but elevates instantly for evening when worn with the heel of your choice.
And while Swift’s Gwyn version is undoubtedly gorgeous, you don’t have to drop over $500 to get the look. Below, shop a selection of other black lace slip dresses we’re loving right now.
