How Jacob Elordi saved that ‘Euphoria’ wedding

Wedding crashers. 

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Do not proceed unless you’ve watched “Euphoria” Season 3 episode 3, “The Ballad of Paladin.”

In the third episode of “Euphoria” Season 3, Jack Topalian’s character, Naz, disrupts Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) long-awaited nuptials to Nate (Jacob Elordi) by threatening him in front of all their guests.  

However, filming the scene was just as chaotic, with Topalian exclusively telling Page Six that the scene had been extended without his knowledge.

Topalin recalled that, during rehearsal, he did his “part, and Jacob [Elordi] is answering… and then I stop.”

In an awkward moment, “Euphoria” creator and showrunner Sam Levinson then asked Topalian where “the rest of” the scene was. 

“I said, ‘Sam, this is all I have. This is all I prepared.’ I started feeling really bad! And then all of a sudden, Jacob just turns around and goes, ‘Hey, don’t worry, mate. They just threw that on us last night,’” the Armenian actor detailed.

Compared to the original version that Topalian had prepared for, the new scene had been extended and contained more dialogue.

However, he detailed getting briefly distracted when he noticed that Elordi’s Australian accent, calling it “one of the funniest things.”

Topalian noted that Elordi was “gracious enough” to pull him aside and rehearse the “longer” wedding crash scene before filming it.

During the scene, Naz — a gangster-esque businessman — shows up at Nate and Cassie’s wedding uninvited to collect the half a million dollars the former owes him.

He comes up behind Nate to tell him that he’s being “foolish” for throwing such a “lavish” ceremony, when he owes Naz so much money. 

Naz promises to become Nate’s “worst nightmare” — much to Cassie’s horror, who has no idea that her new husband is in debt.

Later that night, Naz has Nate brutally beaten and ultimately cuts off his toe.

Despite their hostile relationship onscreen, Topalian said that he “became close” with Elordi behind the scenes.

“Boy, I haven’t met too many actors –  especially younger ones – that are this committed,” he said about the “Frankenstein” star, who is 28. 

“I mean, he is amazing. He’s very giving. He’s very well prepared, and he really dives in. He’s a very grounded and down-to-earth individual, which I enjoyed a lot.” 

Although other characters, like Rue (Zendaya), attend Nate and Cassie’s wedding, Toplaian told Page Six that he “did not see Zendaya.”

While speaking to Page Six, the “Madame Secretary” actor insisted that he doesn’t know what other storylines are featured in the show because everything is “pretty hush hush.”

“I believe she filmed prior to me being there,” he noted about Zendaya.

“I’m a fan – like, I just watched the first episode, and I’m going to watch them every Sunday as they’re being released. So, I don’t know what’s going on.” 

He added, “I’m just kind of taken by the story, and I want to go on this ride with everybody.” 

“Euphoria” Season 3 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
