Why Timothée Chalamet missed Met Gala 2026 as girlfriend Kylie Jenner attends

Timothée Chalamet skipped the Met Gala 2026 Monday night, letting his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, attend fashion’s biggest night solo.

Instead, the actor watched the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers game at Madison Square Garden. Chalamet, who is a longtime Knicks fan, posted an Instagram Story showcasing his courtside view.

The Knicks also posted video of Chalamet at the game, giving a hug to fellow Knicks fan Tracy Morgan.

Meanwhile, Jenner wowed at the Met Gala in a jaw-dropping Schiaparelli gown. Her bejeweled look was covered in pearls in a highly embellished train — with the front falling down to reveal a nude illusion corset with faux nipples, belly button and body contours.

Last year, Chalamet also decided to skip the gala to watch the New York Knicks playoff game against the Boston Celtics during Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals.

At the time, the “A Complete Unknown” actor shared photos of himself watching the game on an iPad on his Instagram Stories. The die-hard Knicks fan also posted a picture with a group of pals.

Chalamet has only attended the Met Gala once, making his debut in 2021, where he teamed his Haider Ackermann tuxedo with sweatpants and Converse sneakers.

Meanwhile, Jenner stunned at fashion’s biggest night last May, wearing a Ferragamo dress featuring wool herringbone cups and a matching long skirt with a high slit.

The “Kardashians” star styled the piece with a corset, pointy black heels, Lorraine Schwartz earrings and coordinating long see-through gloves, while rocking a slicked-back bun.

Jenner also added a shiny black sash with a diamond-adorned flower brooch.

The reality star’s look followed the night’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme, which celebrated the styles of black dandy men and “the importance of clothing in style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.”

Jenner and Chalamet first started dating in 2023, shortly after the mom of two called it quits with Travis Scott.

Jenner and the “Sicko Mode” emcee, 34, share kids Stormi, 8, and Aire, 4.
