Princess Kate Middleton stepped out for a mother-son outing with her firstborn, Prince George, in honor of Armed Forces Day.

“Honouring Service and Sacrifice,” a Saturday, June 27, upload on Kate’s official Instagram page read. “Marking Armed Forces Day by reflecting on time spent with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby.”

The post continued, “Learning about the extraordinary history of these aircraft and meeting the pilots and engineers who keep their legacy alive. A powerful reminder of the courage, skill and dedication of those who serve, past and present. Thank you to all those who have served and continue to serve.”

Kate, 44, visited the military facility with George, 12, who nearly towered over the Princess of Wales as they explored the grounds. George also got a chance to sit in the cockpit of an aircraft, resembling dad Prince William even more than usual. (William, 44, previously served in the Royal Air Force as a pilot.)

Prince George appears to be following in his father, Prince William’s footsteps. An eyewitness revealed to U.K.’s The Sun that George, 11, had completed his first flying lesson at the Berkshire airfield in England last week, just before he headed back to school. The publication reported that William, 42, and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton […]

William and Kate, who have been married since 2011, are the parents of George and his two younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 7. In addition, George is second in line for the British throne — and will one day serve the monarchy as king.

William, who is first in line for the crown behind father King Charles III, has since been preparing George for his eventual ascension.

“It’s an interesting question, and it’s a big question, that one,” William said on an October 2025 episode of The Reluctant Traveller when asked about George’s future reign. “There’s lots of things to think about with that, but obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.”

He continued at the time, “I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past that [Prince] Harry and I had to grow up in, and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”

Until then, George is also preparing to take the next step in his academic endeavors.

Princess Kate Middleton’s involvement in eldest son Prince George’s preparation to become king will be “different” than husband Prince William’s. “She will never have a constitutional role, except as regent in a worst-case scenario, if George becomes king before age 18,” royal historian Marlene Koenig told Us Weekly exclusively. “She is there to be the […]

“George [was] boarding last night,” William said on an episode of Heart Breakfast last month, while giving Charlotte and Louis’ on-air shout-outs. “So, Charlotte, Louis, if you’re listening, make sure you’re on time, please. Make sure you’re not fighting over who’s listening to what this morning.”

George, who currently attends Lambrook School in England with his siblings, is set to follow in William’s footsteps and attend Eton College next year.
