Aaron Rodgers’ comments about ex-fiancée Shailene Woodley spark concern among her pals
Shailene Woodley’s inner circle is reportedly concerned after Aaron Rodgers made a series of pointed remarks about his former fiancée during a podcast appearance this week.
Woodley and Rodgers, whose engagement was confirmed in February 2021, have not spoken in more than two years, sources close to the “Divergent” actress told TMZ Friday.
“We’re questioning why a married dude is bringing up an ex he hasn’t spoken with in over two years,” one source told the outlet.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, 42, revealed in June 2025 that he had secretly tied the knot “a couple months” earlier with a mystery woman who was later identified as “Brittani.”
Woodley, 34, reportedly began dating Rodgers in July 2020, but the pair called it quits in February 2022 in what was described as an “amicable” breakup — not long after he popped the question.
During their relationship, Rodgers apparently understood Woodley valued her privacy and seemed to honor that, making his decision to revisit their past publicly this week appear “out of character,” according to TMZ.
The sources added that Woodley’s friends don’t believe she would be comfortable with Rodgers airing details of their relationship, while noting that she has “no ill will” toward him and has never spoken negatively about him to her circle.
Page Six previously reached out to reps for Woodley for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
During Thursday’s episode of the “Not Just Football” podcast, Rodgers reflected on his engagement to Woodley and claimed that she felt pressured to make a decision, though she “could have said no.”
He also alleged that she said yes, only to tell him a couple of days later, “Before we get married, I got to go f–k this guy,” though he did not specify who she was allegedly referring to.
Rodgers further claimed that Woodley had taken off her engagement ring by March 2021.
In the same interview, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback also pushed back on what he called “horse s–t” claims from Woodley and his other ex, Danica Patrick, that he was a “monster” in their relationships.
“I dated two women who nobody gives a f–k about unless they drop my name,” he said.
Similarly, Rodgers alleged that Woodley was at the “height of [her] fame” while they were together, adding that “no one knows what they are doing” in reference to his other exes, including Patrick.
“They get clicks when they say my name,” he said. “Just like the idiots on TV get clicks when they say my name, because I am a lightning rod.”
