Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber’s daughter Kai celebrates modeling award
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber’s model daughter gushed over being the “first trans girl” to receive the high-profile Breakthrough Model of the Year award.
During Friday’s ceremony at The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards on Friday, Kai thanked those who had “so graciously welcomed [her] into this beautiful world of fashion,” according to footage obtained by the Daily Mail.
The 17-year old — who wore a dramatic jeweled necklace and lime green mini dress by Valentino for the appearance — said she was “so beyond excited that I get to learn more about it every day and call it my job.”
Audience members cheered when Kai noted, “I’m also the first trans girl to win this award.”
She called the landmark award “surreal” and said it “wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for all my sisters who paved the way for me in this industry,” noting, “I carry that with me into every room.”
The outlet reported that elsewhere in the interview, the Valentino model thanked her famous parents — who split in 2016 — “for their unconditional support and devotion to making me happy and making my dreams come true.”
She continued, “I’m so lucky to be supported by you.”
Not to be left out of the accolades was the team at Maison Valentino, whom Kai acknowledged “for not only designing this outfit, but for being the ones that introduced me to this community and continued to believe in me.”
A rep for the model did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday.
Watts supported Kai at the event, proudly posing on the red carpet alongside her daughter. Liev was also spotted kissing his daughter on the cheek during the soirée.
The “Ring” actress, 57, also shares son Sasha Schreiber, 19, with the “Ray Donovan” actor, 58.
In a 2025 chat with Interview Magazine, Kai stated in no uncertain terms that she wants “to be a supermodel. Period.”
“I’ve been practicing my walks in the kitchen for years; my mom can show you all the videos I forced her to film,” she added. “Struggling with gender identity from a young age most likely had something to do with it.”
Kai went on, saying that it’s “great that there’s a strong community of us in the fashion world; it’s really a doll takeover.”
Also in 2025, Liev told Variety that when Kai asked her family to change her pronouns, it “didn’t feel like that big of a deal because Kai had been feminine for so long.”
“Kai was always who Kai is,” he said, adding that his daughter “is such a fighter.”
“It’s important that she goes, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me,’” he said.
Watts, meanwhile, gushed over her daughter’s achievements when she was featured in her first Valentino campaign last year. “Beaming with pride 😃 🙌,” she captioned photos from the campaign.
