Alan Ritchson’s Divorce Filing Details Reason for Split From Estranged Wife After Reconciliation Attempt
Alan Ritchson and estranged wife Catherine Ritchson tried to reconcile just three months after the actor filed for divorce.
According to court documents obtained by Us on Monday, September 14, the Reacher star, 43, filed an agreed order of reconciliation back in March. Alan and Catherine, 42, filed a “suspension of the proceedings” as they attempted to get back together, per the docs.
A judge agreed to the order and suspended their divorce for six months. The docs stated that Alan and Catherine “may resume living together as husband and wife and their acts.” Per the court, the divorce could proceed if the pair’s reconciliation attempt was ultimately unsuccessful.
Alan initially filed for divorce in December 2025, claiming irreconcilable differences and that they were “unable to live together successfully as husband and wife.”
The pair went public with their split on Saturday, September 12 via social media, announcing that they had called it quits after two decades of marriage.
“After 20 years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,” the pair wrote in a joint statement shared via Instagram at the time. “We grew up together, we built a life and a family together.”
Alan and Catherine, previous high school sweethearts, tied the knot in 2006. They went on to welcome three sons: Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and Amory, 10.
“We are raising three incredible boys, who will always be the center of our world. Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us — or the love and respect we will always share,” the statement continued. ““The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest coparents we can be. We also want to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming.”
The exes also asked for privacy as their family works on adjusting to their new dynamic.
“Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in,” the pair wrote. “We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion. Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority.”
