Ben Affleck’s pal Kevin Smith says actor will let him know when ‘he’s in a good place’ amid Jennifer Lopez marital woes

Ben Affleck’s friend Kevin Smith said the actor will let him know when “he’s in a good place” amid his ongoing marital woes with Jennifer Lopez.

“Obviously, he’s been going through a thing, or at least that’s what it says in the press and whatnot,” the filmmaker told People at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 Saturday.

Smith revealed his wife pushed him to reach out to Affleck, but he decided not to take her advice.

“I, being his least trustworthy friend who’s very loose-lipped … my wife was like, ‘Oh, you should reach out to him,’” he explained.

“I was like, ‘The last person he needs to hear from right now is the guy who chats a lot,’” Smith, 53, continued.

“So when he’s in a good place, he’ll let me know.”

While Smith hasn’t spoken to Affleck in a while, he plans to connect with the “Argo” star, 51, when he begins filming the next “Jay and Silent Bob” installment in the fall.

“I’ll be reaching out to him,” the movie producer said. “He may even come play, but I haven’t been anywhere near the situation.”

The two have worked on several films together over the years, including 1997’s “Chasing Amy,” 1999’s “Dogma” and 2006’s “Clerks II.”

Smith also wrote and directed Affleck’s 2004 film “Jersey Girl,” which also starred Lopez.

The movie producer attended the couple’s lavish second wedding ceremony at Affleck’s Georgia estate in August 2022.

Smith later got candid about the emotional nuptials, revealing he “bawled” his eyes out.

“I’m a crier,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” at the time. “But I bawled throughout [the wedding] because it was goddamn beautiful. So beautiful.”

Smith also revealed Affleck confessed his love to Lopez, 55, in a 12-page speech.

“He’s one of my favorite writers on the planet,” he gushed on “The View” in September 2022.

“He wrote his vows — they [both] wrote their vows, but he wrote a big speech that he read to her at the wedding, which was breathtaking.”

Affleck and Lopez have recently been spending time apart and haven’t been seen together in over a month.

The duo — who tied the knot in July 2022 — even spent their second wedding anniversary and her 55th birthday apart.

While the two have yet to address their relationship status, sources told Page Six that their marriage has “been over for months.”
