Ex-NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer reveals he and Roxana Girand quietly tied the knot in 2020

Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and Roxana Girand are husband and wife, he confirmed to Page Six.

Spitzer, 65, and Girand, 53, quietly tied the knot in 2020 after they called off a big New York wedding due to the coronavirus.

At the time, the coupled informed family and friends in a message calling off the party that, “Reality, in the form of the dreaded covid-19 virus, unfortunately, has intervened,” we’d previously reported.

But, “We intend — nonetheless — to get married in an appropriately small, family-only event either on the 4th of April or before. No virus will subdue us!” they said at the time.

Spitzer told us that while they canceled the event on April 4 of 2020, they “married the same day,” at his Columbia County home, near Millbrook.

(The nuptials got a bit lost in the shuffle, as Girand is still often referred to as Spitzer’s fiancée in press reports.)

The not so newlyweds were all the buzz at the Millbrook Horse Trials last weekend.

The couple attended the event at Barbara Tober’s Yellow Frame Farm, and a spy told us the once controversial politico was a downright delight.

“He seemed happier, and much more in touch with himself. He looked comfortable, and rather charming,” the source said.

The insider added of Spitzer, “He was more relaxed and more in his own skin than ever before!” He and his wife sponsored one of the tables, we hear, and he told us it was “a beautiful event.”

An afternoon hosted by Tober can have that effect, we hear.

The former Bride’s magazine EIC kicked off the event sharing horse tales with “Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell.

The latter revealed she was a member of her school’s Pony Club, while Tober, on the other hand, was “self-taught. At 6, I had a horse at our farm,” she shared.

Tober also reminisced about how she and former Simon & Schuster editor Michael Korda would sometimes ride before work in Central Park.

“I was always jealous that his office had a shower for him. I had to go home and shower before arriving at Conde Nast,” she said.

Spitzer and Roxana Girand got engaged in 2019, we previously reported, and Page Six first revealed that they became an item in 2017.

Girand is the founder and president of Sebastian Capital.

Spitzer was married to Silda Spitzer from 1987 to 2013. The marriage ended five years years after the infamous prostitution scandal that forced Spitzer to resign as governor in 2008.
