Love Island’s Jessie Wynter has opened up about the “horrific” spiking ordeal she endured, revealing that she “knows” the individuals responsible for the attack.
The Aussie reality TV star was vacationing in the United States with her beau and fellow Islander Will Young when she fell victim to a drink spiking. Jessie found herself waking up in a hospital and expressed how “lucky” she felt to have Will by her side during the harrowing experience.
Jessie has now revealed she recognised her assailants after they had earlier attempted to linger near the couple. Recounting the chilling incident, Jessie shared: “We were in Chicago and these men pulled over in a car. There was a car full of people say a few men and a couple of women.”
She shared how the group followed them into an arcade and “insisted” on buying her and Will a drink. Jessie explained Will told them ‘no’, and so purchased their own drinks “so they couldn’t keep trying to force us to have a drink.” The Love Island star said Will went to the toilet and the girls from the group went over to speak to her.
They continued to play basketball, and Jessie took a sip of her drink. The couple then decided to leave because the group were “hovering around” them for “a long time”. Jessie told the Daily Star: “At dinner, I just started to slowly seem to become more intoxicated, and I stood up to go to the bathroom. I was very unbalanced. When I got to the bathroom. I started to stumble and fall.”
She shared how some girls helped her and went to get Will. He then had to support her in the female bathroom, as she “couldn’t get up”. Eventually an ambulance was called for Jessie, and she said they asked Will if she was drunk. On the way to hospital, Jessie passed out. She has revealed it was a “terrifying experience” for them both.
Jessie said she saw other girls “coming in that evening in the same condition” and claims a nurse said they all had “the same substance in our system”. Terrifyingly, Jessie shared how she feels “really lucky” as “if I had too much, it could have been fatal.” Jessie first opened up on the scary incident in an Instagram post.
She shared: “I wasn’t sure if I should post this as I felt so embarrassed but the other night I was unfortunately rushed to hospital after my drink was spiked.” Jessie confirmed that she had been looked after by Will but was concerned about the number of women taken to hospital for the same issue.
Just days later, the reality star admitted she was much better and was grateful for the support she had received. She said: “I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the messages, love and support I’ve been given on my last post. I’m doing okay now, I am at home spending time with Will and my family. Sending love to all of those with similar stories. So sad that this is something that happens so often. (Red heart emoji) Once again, thank you all so much for your lovely messages and comments. Beyond grateful for all of you. (Red heart emoji)”
