Vinnie Jones has been spotted with his new girlfriend for the first time since going public with their romance earlier this week.
The footballer-turned-actor was left devastated in 2019 when his wife, Tanya Terry, passed away at 53 following a battle with cancer. He had previously expressed fears that he would never fall in love again. However, last week he shared the joyful news that he is dating Emma Ford, 47, a script supervisor.
Vinnie, who is currently starring in Guy Richie’s Netflix series The Gentleman, was all smiles as he stepped out with her new partner amid going public. Vinnie and Emma, who met on the set of his new TV show, Vinnie Jones in the Country, were captured enjoying a holiday in California, appearing loved-up as they headed out for dinner.
Former Wimbledon footballer Vinnie, 59, looked radiant while chatting away on the phone and absorbing the Californian sun in his vibrant orange T-shirt and white shorts. His partner and former model Emma, 47, appeared equally joyous and nonchalant in her leopard print leggings paired with a plain white shirt. After spending about two hours dining in the restaurant, they drove off in Vinnie’s Bentley convertible.
The new couple’s outing comes just days on from Vinnie getting the thumbs up from his new girlfriend’s family after going public with their relationship. In an exclusive chat with the Mirror on Thursday, Vinnie opened up about his new romance. He explained that while he continues to grieve for his late wife, he is learning to enjoy being in love again. He said: “Moving forwards, we meet other people that we are fond of and we fall in love with and vice versa.”
Family members of Emma, who also works as Vinnie’s PA, have now shared their thoughts on the budding romance. Her uncle, David Ford, expressed his joy at seeing Emma and Vinnie fall for each other. He hinted that his family had suspected for some time that a relationship was developing between the two.
David gushed to MailOnline about his daughter’s new romance: “Emma is such a lovely girl, really nice and kind. I am glad she is settling down. It’s amazing news. I’ve never poked my nose in but when I saw him doing his show on the farm and she was in the background we knew they were an item. The whole family wishes them a lifetime of happiness.”
He continued, sharing details of Emma’s jet-setting lifestyle: “She goes all over the world with him. She lives between here and America while I’m a man who lives in sunny Somerset so we don’t see that much of her.” Elsewhere, Emma’s Somerset-based relatives expressed their joy to the outlet, echoing the sentiment for the couple’s future, desiring a “lifetime of happiness” for them.
Vinnie has previously shared his heartache over losing his wife, speaking candidly to the Mirror in 2019 about how he cherishes a love letter from Tanya, which he carries with him as a constant reminder of her presence. He recounted the emotional moment, saying: “I broke down. Now, I take it everywhere I go so Tanya is always with me.”
Delving into the contents of the cherished note, Vinnie revealed that it contained the uplifting message: “Always Believe Something Wonderful is Going to Happen”, penned by Tanya in the days leading up to her untimely passing. He reflected on the significance of the note, which was found among her treasured diaries.
The star revealed the heartfelt message inside: “To my love Vin, something wonderful happens to me every day. It’s being with you. You are my morning sunshine the moment I wake. All my love, Tanya.” He admitted he broke down upon reading it as his feelings mirrored hers.
Now, he has openly expressed his happiness about finding love again with Emma. In a recent chat with the Mirror, he shared: “I’m enjoying the joy in life. I think I’ve learned a little bit that ego is not your Amigo.” He also described his budding relationship with Emma as “fantastic”.
