Meryl Streep’s daughter Louisa Jacobson details coming out after ‘back-to-back’ relationships with men: ‘I was hiding’

Louisa Jacobson’s coming-out journey was gradual.

“I was hiding for so long, part of myself that I knew was always there,” the “Gilded Age” star, 33, told Page Six exclusively at the Human Rights Campaign’s Greater New York Dinner on Saturday night.

Jacobson, who is the youngest daughter of Meryl Streep and Don Gummer, explained that she had been “in straight relationships back-to-back,” but after being single, the “part that [she] was hiding was really making itself known.”

The actress publicly came out during Pride Month last year.

“blessed to be entering the Joyful New Era bb ❤️‍🔥🏳️‍🌈,” she captioned a carousel of photos on Instagram with one slide that featured a headline reading, “We’re Entering a Joyful New Era of Lesbian Fashion.”

Other snaps in the post featured Jacobson’s girlfriend, Anna Blundell.

The Yale School of Drama graduate, who was honored with the HRC visibility award at Saturday’s event, told Page Six that she believes being open about her sexual orientation is “really important.”

“I think the more we see people like us, who we can relate to, who are following onto this path and stepping into their truth unapologetically, will inspire others that they can do the same, that their truths are OK and not to be ashamed of,” she explained.

Jacobson also acknowledged how “blessed” she is to be out of the closet as a working actress, something that may not have been possible years ago.

“It’s incredible, and I’m absolutely blessed,” she shared. “I think we’re entering a moment right now where there is a vanguard of women and non-binary people who are redefining what it means to be a woman. It’s an exciting time, and I’m really grateful.”

Other honorees at the HRC dinner included “Heartstopper” and “Agatha All Along” actor Joe Locke, who was given the impact award.

TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, Tony winner Alex Edelman and “One Tree Hill” alum Sophia Bush and her girlfriend, former soccer player Ashlyn Harris, were also in attendance.
