Ace Frehley was told he’d live to be 100 years old in the months before his death at age 74.

“Luckily, I have good genes. My dad lived to be 96 and my mom lived to be 86, but her older sister lived to be 99,” the founding KISS member and guitarist told the Aquarian in March 2025. “I mean, we have longevity in the family on both sides.”

He added, “‘I just spoke to a psychic. She goes, ‘Ace, you’re going to live to be a hundred.’ So I said, ‘No problem!”‘

Frehley divulged during the interview that a previous injury had presented challenges to his musical career.

“I hurt my arm about two-and-a-half years ago — I fell down a flight of stairs,” he divulged.

“It’s been a struggle because I landed on my right arm, and that’s the arm that I strum with when I play guitar,” Frehley continued. “So it feels great to get up onstage because I wasn’t sure if it was ever going to get back to the way it used to be.”

The iconic guitarist died on Thursday, his family confirmed in a statement.

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth,” the statement read.

“We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”

The rocker’s former bandmates from KISS, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, released a heartfelt joint statement following the news of Frehley’s passing.

“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley,” they wrote. “He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history.”

“He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy,” the statement continued. “Our thoughts are with [his estranged wife] Jeanette, [daughter] Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”

An official cause of death has not been disclosed. The glam metal rocker had reportedly been placed on life support in the hours leading up to his death.

According to TMZ, the musician suffered a fall in his studio a couple of weeks ago, resulting in a brain bleed. The outlet reported that though Frehley had been on a ventilator, his condition had not improved, leading family to consider taking him off life support.

On Oct. 6, Frehley had nixed all remaining 2025 shows on his tour due to “ongoing medical issues,” an Instagram announcement read.

The hitmaker founded the iconic band alongside Stanley, Simmons and Peter Criss. After nine years with the flamboyant group, Frehley left the band in 1982 — only to return for their 1996 reunion tour. Frehley continued on with KISS for six additional years, until 2002.
