Alex Rodriguez is ready to pull back the curtain on his life — the good and the bad.
The MLB legend, 50, is the subject of an upcoming three-part HBO Originals docuseries titled Alex vs. A-Rod, which explores the different sides of the former athlete, widely recognized as one of the most prolific figures in sports.
As seen in the trailer that dropped on Thursday, Oct. 16, those closest to Rodriguez are set to offer exclusive commentary on his life.
Some of the participants include Baseball Hall of Famers Derek Jeter and Ken Griffey Jr.; former MLB manager Lou Piniella; Rodriguez’s ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis; and their daughters Natasha, 20, and Ella, 17.
“A-Rod is a Shakespearean figure. He’s one of the greatest players who ever played. But he also was an incredibly flawed individual,” one of the commentators says in the preview clip.

Alex vs. A-Rod explores the “dualities” of Rodriguez, “from the pinnacle of athletic success to the depths of scandal,” including his high-profile suspension for performance-enhancing drug use in 2014, a synopsis explains.
According to a summary for the docuseries, the project sees Rodriguez using the “benefit of hindsight and years of intense self-examination” to confront his personal struggles and controversies that “shaped his journey from ‘Alex,’ a baseball prodigy abandoned by his father, to ‘A-Rod,’ the decorated MLB superstar driven by a relentless pursuit of greatness, no matter the cost.”
“Featuring insights from family, friends, teammates, and broadcasters, the series examines the events that fueled Rodriguez’s rise and fall, as well as his extraordinary talent, his place in baseball history, and the personal growth that defines his life as ‘Alex’ today,” the synopsis adds.
