And just like that, it’s over for Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan (John Corbett)… again.

The July 24 episode of And Just Like That… season 3 culminated in the emotional breakup between the show leads, plus, some levity with a memorable cameo from Parker’s real-life friend Andy Cohen.

At the beginning of the episode, Carrie came home to find Aidan in the back terrace with her downstairs neighbor and fellow author, Duncan (Jonathan Cake).

The trio engaged in an awkward conversation, with Aidan quizzing Duncan about his pipe-smoking habit. However, things didn’t really heat up until Carrie has a writing session with Duncan that causes her to miss dinner with Aidan.

When she came upstairs, she cuddled up with Aidan in bed only for him to push her away. “Uh-uh, no. Get away from me,” he told her. “You smell like smoke. Go take a shower.”

Carrie then went to sleep in another room and Aidan later tried to coax her back to their bed, but she refused.

The next morning, Aidan tried to make conversation while cooking breakfast, but Carrie cut him off and said she’s going on a walk.

“What, are you still mad?” he asked, to which she replied, “I have no reason not to be.”

“Okay, f— it, I’ll stay mad, too,” Aidan fired back. Carrie then accused him of speaking to Duncan earlier in the episode as a way “to figure out if there’s something going on between us.”

Aidan called that accusation “bulls—,” but Carrie wasn’t having it.

“You’re worried about me and another man,” she said pointedly. “That’s what all the neighbor business is about.”

After storming out, Carrie went to do a little retail therapy — and none other than Andy Cohen made a cameo.

Cohen appeared as a shoe salesman named Daniel, a throwback to a season 6 episode of Sex and the City.

“Hey, Carrie. I am slammed. But I’m gonna be right with you, okay?” he said before going off to help another customer.

Aidan then texted Carrie to ask her to lunch at “that place we love.”

Carrie arrived to lunch, where Aidan was already waiting at a table outside.

“So, I’ve been thinking about everything that happened and what you said, and you’re right,” he said. “I hate to admit it. But I do have trust issues with you around other men.”

Aidan wasn’t totally out of left field here, as fans may recall, Carrie did cheat on him with Big (Chris Noth) — an affair that ended their relationship in Sex and the City season 3.

However, this time was on the heels of Aidan admitting to Carrie that he recently slept with his ex-wife, Kathy (Rosemarie DeWitt).

Back to lunch and Aidan’s revelation, Carrie asked him to clarify if his trust issues are rooted in the past or the present.

“You said you have trust issues when it comes to me and men. ‘Have.’ You should have said ‘had.’ You ‘had’ trust issues. Past tense,” she said.

“Okay, what’s your point?” Aidan fired back. “It’s just a word.”

“No, it’s not just a word. It’s revealing of how you feel,” Carrie explained, to which he apologized for not being a writer “like you and Sherlock Holmes,” referring to Duncan.

Carrie reminded Aidan that she had done nothing wrong, asking, “Do you hear yourself, how jealous and suspicious you sound?”

“Can you blame me?” he asked, to which she replied, “Can you stop f—— blaming me?”

Carrie got up and walked away, with Aidan following right behind her.

“How dare you. No, really, how dare you,” she said, turning around to face him. “How is it possible that I haven’t earned your trust by now? I have done everything to show you how fully committed I am to you. I have moved mountains and apartments.”

“I was 100% in,” she said, exasperated. Aidan stopped her, as it was then his turn to clarify tenses.

“‘Was’ or ‘are’? Because you just said, ‘I was 100% in,’ so is it ‘was,’ or are you still 100% in?” he asked.

“Was,” she answered. “I can’t give you any more than I have, and it wasn’t enough.” Aiden said he was sad, explaining, “I really thought we were gonna make it this time.”

Carrie admitted she also upset, and as they embraced, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department track “How Did It End” began playing.

Swift’s voice played over scenes of Carrie taking down the Aidan-inspired postcards from her refrigerator and getting comfort from Shoe the cat.

Carrie then went to dinner — meeting Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Seema (Sarita Choudhury) in a dimly lit restaurant.

“The woman had thought that she and her love were very present, but now realized they were still locked in the past, which meant, of course, that they had no future,” Carrie said in a voiceover as the episode ends.
