NEED TO KNOW
- Andy Cohen’s kids are big John Mayer fans — or as they know him, “Uncle John”
- The dad of two shared a sweet post on his Instagram Stories in honor of Mayer’s birthday
- Cohen has shared in the past that his kids love attending Mayer’s concerts
Andy Cohen’s kids love their Uncle John.
The Bravo personality, 57, shared a photo to his Instagram Stories on Thursday, Oct. 16 as he celebrated his close friend, John Mayer’s birthday. In the sweet photo, the “New Light” singer, 48, could be seen sitting between Cohen’s two kids, son Ben, 6, and daughter Lucy, 3.
Wearing an all-black outfit, Mayer was photographed reading Cohen’s kids the children’s book The Importance of Being Bert, which features Sesame Street characters Bert and Ernie. Although Cohen added emojis over his kids’ faces, the two could be seen cuddling close to their “Uncle John” as he read them the story.
“Happy Birthday Uncle John,” Cohen wrote over the photo, tagging the singer.
Although Cohen and Mayer are very close friends, the dad of two admitted this past June during his Andy Cohen Live radio show that Ben was “so pissed” the musician was a part of their Father’s Day celebrations.
“John took me out for Father’s Day last night and Ben was so pissed that I was going out to dinner,” he said before sharing a disclaimer. “By the way, I was going out at his bedtime, so, like, he wasn’t missing anything.”
“He wanted to go and he revoked my Father’s Day card, which he had made for me,” Cohen continued. “He took it away from me.”

His co-host, John Hill, pointed out that Father’s Day is the “one day” they’re supposed to hang out all day. Cohen insisted he’d done just that. “Well, guess what? We celebrated all day. There was 10 minutes left in his day,” he said. However, once Mayer arrived at the house, Ben couldn’t stay mad at the crooner.
“John melted him. John was singing to him. Ben was sitting there smiling. I was like, ‘Oh, okay. All is, all’s good,’ ” Cohen said.
Although Ben might not have been Mayer’s biggest fan before he arrived, the little on has gone to a few of the singer’s shows. In October 2023, Cohen took Ben to the New York leg of Mayer’s SOLO tour at Madison Square Garden.
The proud dad later shared a series of sweet snaps from the concert on his Instagram with a caption referencing the Grateful Dead: “Come, hear Uncle John’s Band! First concert of what I hope will be a long run of them!”
In the first image, Cohen could be seen holding his son’s hand as they watched Mayer perform from the side of the stage. This was followed by a second shot of Ben on his dad’s shoulders. In the third photo, the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host showed off Ben’s access pass which read, “John Mayer SOLO Ben Cohen.”
