Anne Burrell went into âcardiac arrestâ before tragic death: 911 caller
Anne Burrell may have gone into cardiac arrest before she tragically died.
The 911 caller claimed the Food Network star went into “cardiac arrest” and was “DOA [dead on arrival],” a rep for the New York City Fire Department told Page Six Wednesday.
Burrell’s rep has yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The celebrity chef was found unconscious at her Brooklyn, N.Y,, home Tuesday morning, a New York Police Department spokesperson told Page Six.
The 55-year-old’s cause of death has not been revealed and an investigation is ongoing.
In a statement, Burrell’s family members described her as a “beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.”
“Her smile lit up every room she entered,” her loved ones wrote.
“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world,” the statement continued. “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
A spokesperson for Food Network also referred to Burrell as a “remarkable person and culinary talent” following the “Worst Cooks in America” alum’s untimely passing.
“Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss,” the statement read.
Several chefs took to social media to pay tribute to Burrell.
“I am stunned and deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Anne Burrell. Anne wasn’t just a fiery chef. She was a radiant spirit who lit up every room she entered,” Robert Irvine, who worked with Burrell on “Worst Cooks in America,” wrote via Instagram.
“I just heard about the passing of @chefanneburrell. I learned so much from you on ‘Worst Cooks.’ I know you’ll be cooking up a storm in heaven. RIP,” Wells Adams, who starred in Season 19, wrote on his Instagram Stories.
Chef Michael Voltaggio remembered Burrell by sharing a photo of the baby blanket she knit after he welcomed his youngest daughter, Echo.
“Anne, thank you for sharing your talents with the world,” he wrote. “Aside from being an incredible chef, teacher and colleague, she’s also a loyal and thoughtful friend. You consistently reached out to check in during the wins and the losses.”
In Burrell’s final Instagram post from last Thursday, she appeared healthy and happy in a selfie she took with Elizabeth Eaton Rosenthal, also known as “The Green Lady of Brooklyn.”
Burrell is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, whom she wed in October 2021, and her stepson, Javier.
